I wonder if it was really being a helper or if it was there to provide indusi signalling that the steam loco may not have had? I wouldn't have thought that a Br260 would add that much extra pulling power to a Br52? Would that line really be such a struggle for a Br52?

Would that line really be such a struggle for a Br52? On the website www.bahnen-wuppertal.de the German caption reads: "Die 260 894 leistet der 052 626 bei einem schweren Güterzug die notwendige Unterstützung (14.August 1975)." Translated: The 260 894 provides the 052 626 with the necessary support for a heavy freight train (August 14, 1975). Edited by user 06 April 2019 17:43:56(UTC)

Another excuse to run an electric loco (in multiple traction with diesels) on an non-electrified single-track line: In 2011 east of Hamburg: detours on non-electrified single track line Lüneburg-Büchen[-Lübeck] due to trackworks on the electrified (nowadays) triple-track trunk line Hamburg-Lüneburg[-Hannover etc]; a pair of diesels borrowed from the Sylt Shuttle pulled electric loco with train. |
