Can someone identify what railcar is this one? I thought it to be the VT 08.5 or VT12 (?) but the top head lamp is not the same.

From what I have been able to learn, this was a VT 08 type train bought from MF Esslingen in 1955. If you go to railfaneurope.net and click on Israel, Diesel, DMU there are some additional photos, including one taken at Linke Hoffman Busch in 1955. The trainsets were used for about a decade before the motors were taken out of service and the rest of the consists went into service as normal rolling stock. Another decade later, the coaches were left to rot. A few of the coaches may still exist today.
