Hi Nev,

Since you received your Hag triebwagen, have you been able to check it? I did tried mine, sorry to say that it runs a bit funny - 3 pole rotor and older M* decoder are not really a good match I guess.

I will try to convert it to 5 pole permanent - I don't know if I can buy them from Hag.

Cem.

Hi Cem,

First of all congratulations with your new HAG Triebwagen.
I'm sorry to say but HAG only has 3-pole rotors. There have been some issues with the running characteristics of HAG motors in combination with the newer type of Märklin decoders 60902.The old ones-the 6090 series-however should not give problems.
If you want to upgrade your digital control of the HAG motor,I can heartily recommend an ESU Lokpilot 3.0 decoder.
There's even a 21 pin decoder adapter available from HAG.
If you need more info the HAG forum has a wealth of information on digitizing an old HAG loco.

Kind regards
Guus

post scriptum: 03-07-2008 15:38;just read on the HAG forum you already contacted them.
Above information was based on the assumption that the loco has a Type 88 motor.
Converting other types of motors may not be that succesful!
Kind regards,
Guus

Guus hi,

Thanks for the info. As suggested on the Hag forum, no way to perform a conversion with original parts; so I will try to think something else.

Will report on this in digital section later.

Have ran it . runs Good. a lot like the older Marklin. Lots of Buzzing when starting off slow. For its age I consider it to run really well.
Mine was 10 years old and except for a small run to test the decoder it has sat in the box for 10 years. Still running it in.
Had about 5 minutes running yesterday. will give it a light oil and run for about an hour today. very pleased with it.
THe decoder is a 6080
Stefan will know if parts are available. If I was to upgade the decoder I was thinking along the lines of a lokpilot 3, however I am happy with it as it is
EDIT:: Forgot about Guus [:I]

More Edit: After run in now running much smoother. Not a mark on it with the exception of the Marklin Couplers which have a minute amount of rust but hard to see.

Thankyou all.
Even though the running is good once moving I am thinking of a newer decoder like a lokpilot 3 (very reasonable price now)
Guus hi,

Thanks for the info. As suggested on the Hag forum, no way to perform a conversion with original parts; so I will try to think something else.

Will report on this in digital section later.

Regards,

Cem.

Cem,
I understanding is that the conversion will not give as smooth running as modern motors.
YOU can change the magnet and decoder the running will be a bit better but not as good as the current crop of locos.(which are 3 pole) Going to give it a try. about $55.00. magnet and lokpilot 3

Nev hi,

I can live with load-regulation and some improvement on running. I believe the set-up you suggest (permanent magnet + lokpilot) will improve the running of the model.

Please keep us informed. I will do the conversion according to your report.

Cem.

No additional locomotives this time.

But I have made a new list of my locomotives, with some photos.
See http://www.saebonet.com/svein/Tog/Lists/locos040708.htm

Maybe I have to change the automatic pop-up of the photos. May be disturbing.

Very nice, Piet.

Are the people in the house next to the track complaining about train noise?

I have noticed that about most of the Marklin steam loc models. The modelling of the spokes is done very finely, and makes for a very realistic model. It is because of this I believe, that you don't notice the out-of-scale wheel treads and flanges.

Not yet. They love the looks and smell of the bypassing trains. And they certainly would complain about the BR 64, which is not too loud. The diesel of the railbus is biggrin
