Hi Steven,

Which one do you like best? I want to buy one for my own birthday (12 aug) but I can't decide, and the budget is very limited this year.
The 18.3 has impressive driving wheels, but I already have an 18.4 which looks a little bit similar.
The 01 is a standard must have loco but it also looks like my BR44s with its wagner smoke deflectors.
Which one has the best/nicest sound? How does it sound compared to a BR44 (37889) or a BR18.4 (3318 w ESU LS S3/6 sound)?

My fear is that these locos won't be produced for a long time, so that I have to buy now to have them. I might just buy the one that is (or will be) more scarce, and buy the other one next year or the year after. If they both will be available for some years to come I might skip new locos this year and save some more cash.

Any ideas anyone?

Nice pictures.

I just got my yesterday here in US. It took a little long because I also ordered the K.Bay.Sts class B VI "Orlando di Lasso". I am very impressed with both models. The BR 18.3 is a new tooling and it has high degree of accuracy and details. Few things detracts me, like the fatter than life railing pipes and ladders.

The FULL MFX decoder works mostly fine with the SMS. At first run the BR 18.3, it didn't feel as smooth as I expect at starting/low speed. After few loops the running quality improved substantially.

Sound is good and loud. Perhaps to loud at factory setting. There is a rattle/distortion when the wisttle is turned on.

One thing that bugs me is the chuff rate that looks to fast for the speed of drivers. I assume that it is correct since the lok is 4 zylinder [:o)].

The MÄ 37975 K.Bay.Sts class B VI "Orlando di Lasso" is a true charmer on my layout. The sound is very good and it feels more realistic that the big sister BR 18.3. The B VI coreless motor/MFX loksound also runs a little better than the SMS/MFX loksound combo. One thing: I wish this lok had the nice golden pinstripes of B VI "Mürnau". Perhaps someday in the future.

My summary: I am very pleased with these loks. I am looking forward to receive the new Rheingold car set to go with 39020. Perhaps I will even order the blue Baden IVh.

I guess I was more fortunate to choose era I and II this year after last years disapointments: SNCF CC40100/ "Etoile du Nord" and SBB "Gottardo". That kept away from the "Senator". It just looks to toyish and took expensive.

18.3 is a beautiful steamer. It is in my shopping list, not this year but next year. Since 39020 is in new items of 2008, I think they will also offer it in 2009. The passenger coaches are not yet available anyway.

I think M will also offer 39021. Almost exactly the same steamer and functions, but the color is just beautiful.

Yes 39021 is MHI [:(!].

The color scheme of provintial Baden IVh is quite appealing. Despite I have the first Marklin run of Orient Express car set. I would like to run it with the last run of Rivarossi CIWL which the prototypes started to be introduced in 1927. The "new blue" CIWL cars may not made much run in Germany since Mitropa was very agressively taking over some CIWL routes...

Anyway, does anybody knows until when (year) the Baden IVh carried that blue paint scheme?

The BR18.3 could make a nice train with "Mitropa" set of few years back.
