Hi all, i am new to the train world , just bought a digital starter set 29478 , and bought 42796 (Orient Express passenger wagon with LED light equiped inside).

However i don't know how to switch on the light in these wagons, please help.

PS : i bought a steam locomotive 37813 to match it with the Orient Express wagons, but it is not arrived yet so i don't know if when i receive it i will be able to switch on the light in wagons from the mobile station

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!

Judging from the description in the product database, it seems you need the 42795 set to see the lights. The coaches you have do not have a centre rail pick-up.
Instead of 42795 you could also use other coaches or locos that provide power through a power-conducting short coupler.
Regards
Tom

It is correct that one needs the "base" set 42795 as the 42796 is simply an expansion set for the former. When those two are connected together, the lights come on (i have both sets).

You sure chose a great looking lok. Reminds me on one I bought in the 60's . Congratulations on your find.

I am guessing at the following information. Use with care!!

Now what you need to know. The factory address should be 50. The factory name s/b sncf 150z 095.
The name is most likely the engine number.

I got this info from the NEW marklin web site. Marklin .de. You can get all sorts of info here.

The information is in the service parts etc section. Matter of fact you can download the manual
if yours is missing.

Maybe your MS2 has not been updated to reflect this lok. I really don't have a clue to properly
operate the MS2, but then again I am not smart.

Congratulations with your new lok, I am very envious of you your find. Drool

Regards,
gene

Thank you, i did some search on the forum and tried to manually add a locomotive using address 50 (I have to set the MS2 to MM2-DCC protocol first).
The train suddenly runs, anf F1 to F4 is OK , some sounds and light , but it miss F5 to F8 ... ( i believe it is the MM2 mode)
I tried to get back to MFX -MM2 -DCC mode , but when i try "detect" , it detects a train in DCC mode with has less features than the previous working mode
I never succeed to get it to the MFX mode :)
Help please ...

just to add that the 37813 is from the 2013 catalog and the MS2 software release is 2.1 (? if i remember well and it is from 2014) so it should have the 37813 in its database ...

No mfx loco is listed in the database because mfx locos register automatically (in theory).

No need to update the database, mfx locos should register automatically and are not listed in the database.
You will probably get f5 through f8 using f1 and f4 with address 255. Just a hack - loco with work better with mfx.

There are many threads about mfx locos that won't register automatically. It may help to run the loco with another controller (mfx or analogue). As a beginner you probably have no alternatives.
