Hi!

I have tried to search this site and various other sites to find a solution to my problem... Maybe this is very easy to solve but I am a beginner when it comes to Märklin trains and there are so many different control stations that I'm not sure how to proceed...

Issue - bought a new train for my son (or for me - depends if you ask my wife or me). the train is a BR 194 (37228). this train has the address set to 19 according to the manual.

Some time ago we bought a start set 29182 with a IR remote controller. this remote has support for the following addresses (78, 72, 60, 24). included in this startset was the train DHG 700 (29182) which was first on address 72 and then i changed it to 78.
To change the address (according to the manual) i have to hold down the direction change button on the remote and then insert the power. To change the train 29182 was done in a few seconds - it flashes for a few seconds and then it is done.

Problem: when i try to change the address of the new train (37228) it also flashes but it continues for several minutes and i still don't have a connection between the train and the remote.

My guess is that the train and the remote never communicate since the remote doesn't support address 19 - but that is my guess.

Any suggestions for how to proceed?

Theoretically this should work. This is a new loco with one of Märklin's latest mfx decoders - I'm afraid the decoder does not react to the programming sequence sent by your controller.
Did you try a few times?
Any other Märklin fans around your place with different controllers (e.g. MS2, CS2, CS1, CU 6021) that can change the address for you?

Regards
Tom

Hi!

Thank you for your reply!

Not sure if there are any Märklin fans here in Beijing.... Have to buy a new controller next time i'm in Europe...

Which controller should i use? (i have seen that there is an iPad application for controlling the trains - which controller is needed for this?)

I will advice you to go for the Marklin Mobilstation 2 if you are only starting up with modeltrains.

You need the following units to start with :

Marklin 60653 - Mobilestation 2 (Can drive with MFX, Marklin Motorola and DCC Trains, control up to 10 Locomotives and up to 16 Functions on these Locomotives, if the Locomotive has so many).
Marklin 60113 - Connection-Box for use with H0-Tracks.
Marklin 66361 - Power supply used together with the Connection-Box.

If you are planning on building a bigger layout later, then i will advice you to look at :

Marklin 60215 - Centralstation 2 (Can be used with H0-Tracks if you use it with 60061 Power supply)

You can also check out this webpage :

http://www.esu.eu/produk...-zentrale/was-ecos-kann/

which have another Digital Controller for Modeltrains called ECOS 2 (Article-no : 50200)

Beware that the CS2 or the ECOS 2 are not Cheap when you look at prices for the units.

There are 2 Applications for running Marklin Modeltrains :

Mobile station-app : Can be used with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

Main Station-app : Can be used with Ipad (all versions, including the new one. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

You will need a Marklin Centralstation 2 if you want to use the Apple-applications.

There is rumor about a Application for the Android Smartphone's to be released sometime in 2013, but i dont know when it will come at this moment.

There is also an Apple-Applikation called "Touchcab" to be used for steering Modelttrains, more info can be found here :

http://www.touchcab.com - (Support for the Marklin 60215 CS2 will maybe come in 2013)

I Hope this litte Information will help you.

There is only one dealer in China located at :

G-Tin International (SZ) Ltd (SZ Office),
Attn. Romney Tin
No. 3037, Jintian Road, Futian DI
518026 Shenzhen (CN)

as far as i can see.
CS3+ 60216 ( SW:2.5.2 ) - MASTER / CS2 60215 ( SW:4.3.0 ) - SLAVE
MS2 60653/57 ( SW:4.13 ) / MS1 60652 ( SW:1.8AP ) / 60883 S88 LINK ( SW:1.1 )
MDT 3 (SW 3.6.0) - HW: 60970 / 60971 / 60801
ESU LOKPROGRAMMER ( SW 5.2.6 ) / ESU HW: 53451 / 53900 / 53901

Glad to hear that.
The blinking lights were a good sign, meaning the loco was in programming mode (I realized that after some meditation). Glad it worked in the end.

To use any of the iOS apps you'll need a CS2 and a WLAN router.
I conclude Frank's advice about the MS2 - a good and affordable upgrade for your controller.

The 66361 power supply is for 230 V and should work in China (220 V according to Wikipedia).

Tom
