This was shot in Brussels last night, between Grand Place and Brussels Zentral railway station.

I never saw a car with australianbeer.xx, which should mean that icecream is more important to the Australians than beer.

What about the old style M current conducting couplers. Until now I have borrowed two horses from the local farm and attached each to one end of the coaches to be uncoupled. Setting them off at a gallop the coaches eventually do uncouple.

Dear Svein,
That car you saw in Brussels is actually a front for the Australian contingent of Marklin users, who are producing ice-cream with Australian made sticks.

Manufacture of the ice-cream sticks is actually a front (smokescreen) for the real purpose - the manufacture of the uncoupler sticks.
We used this front so that Marklin would not find out about it.

But I am afraid you have now spilled the beans (or let the cat out of the bag) so to speak, so we will have to ........

regards
Kimball

I hope you enjoy Reykjavik -- I certainly did!

Try Humarhúsið (Lobster House) for excellent -- but expensive -- lobster and seafood.
Fjörukráin in Hafnarfjördur has a cool "Viking" restaurant, but its about 20 minutes from Reykjavik.

Today I can reveal that we ( A select Group) have been working on an alternative to the Ice Cream Stick/ Coffe Cup Stirrer. The International Evaluation Committee (IEC) ((not to be confused with ICE)) will meet today and a decision will be made to reveal to the world this revolutionary new type of Uncoupler Device.

If the committee approves the release of information Photos will be posted here later today.
I can reveal that it ambidextrous, compatible with Anologue, Digital MFX and 2 rail. Smile

For those of us living in Europe this is mayby not so good news. Now we will have to send it all the way to Australia for upgrading.

Or maybe it has a coffee-proof USB connector so it can be upgraded via internet?
Another thing to be aware of: coffee comes straigth Smile, with cream or with sugar - or with both [V] cream and sugar.

Does the stick/uncoupler require to be set up for the wanted kind of coffee?
Espresso (single or double), Capuchino, Irish coffee - what about those?

I am looking forward for the further development of the IEC multipurpose stick.

IEC Announcement
We have Uncoupling Success.

The IEC met this morning and after a long and exhausting Discussion/Debate it was decided the this new Uncoupling Device should be revealed to the Wider Community.

The statement by Intruder "have to send it all the way to Australa for Upgrading" was addressed by the IEC and it was confirmed that upgrading can be done in the privacy of your own home/Train Room etc. The IEC will not mandate upgrading Methods.
Chairman Palle of the IEC announced that "We should not impose the method of Upgrading this uncoupling Device on Users. That is their Private Choice".

This means that you wil not have to go to the expense of hiring Canoe Paddlers to send the Uncoupler Device away for Upgrading
Also there is no Setup or configuration to be carried out prior to use as an Uncoupler except to upgrade the Uncoupler to a new State/condition.

As announced Previously the Device is Ambi-dextrious this means that the one model will be suitable for both Left and Right Hand Uncoupling. THere is no need for a decoder or Power supply so the new Upcoupling device is suitable for all types of layouts and eras.

The uncoupler while originally constructed of a substance that may , by some, not to be environmentally friendly is however recyclable. It also cames in a Variety
of colours so you may colour co-ordinate your uncoupler to your rolling Stock.

The uncoupling device may be used in its new state, thus protecting you valuable collection of Rolling Stock, as shown on the left of the Next Photo.
In its original state, As delivered, it may be used for:
Uncoupling, (Protecting Valuable Equipment from Unslightly scratches,
Oiling,
removing excess oil
removing excess ear wax.

UserPostedImage

THe Uncoupler on the Right is shown after being Upgraded (In your own Train room). THe Lower end is shown with the protective covering removed after it becane too dirty or tattered to be used in uncoupling.

By removing the protective covering the object is again suitable for uncoupling. Normally you would do this to both ends of the new UNcoupler. However one of the Members of the IEC showed how one could make a Tree by spreading the protective material.

Next Photo:
IEC members discussing the new Uncoupler. (One member missing as he was taking Photos:

Full makeup of the IEC:
Back Row: Bob Hunt, Adrian (xxup), Me (Nevw)
Front Row: International member Palle (pserup), Rowan , Kimball.

After this exhausting Discussion the Committee retired for a well Earned Lunch. (as seen cooking on the Bar-B-Q)
After lunch Palle continued on his way to North Queensland.

You have been busy Neville.
Brisbane has many active Märklin Users, thanks too your efforts!

Cool

1 Chairing IEC meeting.

2 Cooking for the dignitaries.

3 Producing beer.

4 Developing new technology.

5 Showing the C S in action.

Gosh mate!I can't wait to retire and take it easy.

As I was rolling down the free way ; the Pink Floyd at full blast; I had this great idea.[^]

We should find a canny Scot;wise with money and has it too invest.
We give him the European franchise, he gives us $ 10,000 for research. We get Palle back from Denmark, first class, and head to Kuranda via Surfers Paradise.
Mrs. xxup comes and catches fish to save research money, and give Adrian some fish too clean.
kimballthurlow wires Monument Valley for another 10,000.
bobhunt reckons that as Monument Valley is sort of on the line, make it 15 and that will save the price of another Pony Exress rider. We're carefull with money.
I reckon the NYC Highline does a product test.
With in hours Monument Valley is no longer a valley ; as it is over flowing with money.
We are all rich, and do Märklin every day.

[^][^]

Hmm; must back to the Pink Floyd, and contemplate rich.

Smile

Also we have some faces and names, from the piccy.
Here is a group of people, the majority have never meet;they took over two seconds to find they were at home with friends.
And we had a great time!
Thanks nevw and Rita!

I think it is possible that we could catch up again at the Holland Park model railway show.

Palle you will be rich;just come for the day,see the Oz princess and borrow the jet.
May be you should pay the jet fuel mate or, heh, what ever. Send the bill too Monument Valley!

biggrin

Well done guys. Nice to see you all looking well and fit and enjoying life.

Now to business. As the canny Scot I regret i am unable to sell the uncoupler in Europe on your behalf. I have however arranged for another guy to do so and he will be pleased to send you the A$10,000 each. My fee for finding him is £10,000 and on recept of this I will forward his name to you.

Monument Valley has been mentioned in this thread and as all are aware John Black and myself are retiring there and I understand that John has already put down a deposit on our behalf. We will therefore have the sole rights to the uncouplers in this area. Geronimo and one of my clan members guard the area and have been told to watch for illegal uncoupler running.

You guys are lucky you can meet and enjoy Marklin and beer etc...maybe I should move to OZ.

Hi Nev and Rita, Bob, Palle, Rowan, Adrian,

What a lovely day we had, discussing the new recyclable uncoupler.

It was a great pleasure to meet all these fine people for the first time. And thanks to Rita for the foodstuffs, which were a welcome refreshment.

I hope Palle has a lovely holiday (+ some conference work) while in Australia.

Yes, looking forward to the next encounter.

Gentlemen, congratulations, this has been a memorable event.

The pics clearly show that this has been a formal marklin-users.net meeting, as one member has been wearing an outsider tie, whereas the other members can be recognised by not wearing a tie.

Was the now well established Marklin Outsider's secret obligatory ritual, of the ceremoneouts consumtion of icecream and the consequent birthing of a hand uncouplers, required whenever three or more members congregate, observed?

Yes, Bart, the "formal marklin-users.net meeting" DOES require the wearing of a tie.

However, all except one member had some testing done with his tie, and a yet secret uncoupler, that uses part of the ............

Unfortunately, during this testing, the tie was ruined, and was no longer wearable. Only one tie survived.

Glad to see that my friends downunder have taken up my idea of a club tie.
The rules are simple : If you wear a tie you are a member if you dont you are either Ron or not a member. Anyone wearing a tie without the uncoupler logo is of course also not a member. If you forget your tie it can be downloaded after upgrading is completed.
Ties are at present showing a yellow light but Steven will advise when this goes to green.

David
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Almost nothing?
The lightweight version of the Outsider uncoupler has been specifically designed for convenient transportation to train shows.
This version even opens opportunities to design a club tie with a hidden uncoupler pocket - only Ron will have to convert all his locos to Telex.

What's wrong with Bob's tie?

UserPostedImage

With this tie clip, before upgrading in Göppingen, you also have the perfect uncoupler.

UserPostedImage

And you are recognized by other members anywhere!

I beg to differ. This topic, judging by its number of reads and post, is clearly one of the most significant topics in the history of Marklin.

It was not much unlike when an apple fell on the head of Isaac Newton, when a then young Herr Marklin sitting under an oak tree having just finished an ice cream, realised his remarkable discovery. “Ahhh, this is ein wunderbar hand unkuplung device”; might be what he said as he then went on to design and manufacture Marklin model trains just for that purpose and to realise the full potential of his discovery.

Whilst the model trains went on to be world famous the little hand uncoupler, which wasn’t required for the early trains due to a design oversight, became forgotten. It also disappeared from catalogues (hence no spare part number) and eventually this topic became taboo. Only by the occasional passing down from grandfathers to grandsons did this knowledge get passed through history till present day.

That was until “diesel” dared to bring this topic into the open. Without his courage and potential for social out-casting we would all have remained closet bound and suffered in private silence. What is amazing is that everybody has clearly wanted wants to talk about it but nobody felt comfortable about bringing it into the open.

However, it has also become evident that a significant number have been completely oblivious to the very existence of the uncoupler. For these unfortunate individuals there will soon be a special on-line therapy forum the help sufferers come to grips with their predicament. Similarly, there will be other forums for those who know about the hand uncoupler but have never been taught how to operate them. Yet another forum will also help those that know how, but have never actually done it, to overcome their fears and become confident uncouplers. Advance uncopler programmer will not yet be offered due to the overwhelming demand for the other programmes.

So now there is a way forward, and everybody can feel comfortable about talking about their hand uncoupler issues.

There is no place like The Shire...
