Please specify which m84 ( m84.1 = 60841=white, m84.2 = 60842 = black)
only the m84.2 is mFX configuration ready

what do you mean by "light is on" - which light.
refer manual for correct led status indications (next to red/brown feed)

please confirm the CS3 mFX protocol has not been disabled.

Dip switch number 10 are to set MM or DCC.
I recommended you try DCC protocol and click to search mfx article.
Good luck!

If you've already disconnected it and retried, maybe it's defective? Have you checked all. The CS3 settings for correct parameters?

1. Try another set of address;
2. If have other workable 60842 in CS3, may replace it by new 60842 with same address to see what will happen.

Yes, and set to DCC, there are more addresses possible, no? Or is it MM? I think the German "trainguy" on YouTube shows how.

Test by reset CS3.
It is possible that CS3 needs to be clean up.
I did have same similar problem with m83.
After reset CS3 the m83 did start work again.

There has been a range of Marklin 60842 - M84 Decoders which is not working "correct" because of a failure made under Production.
These cant be programmed "manually" or with "mfx" and is not working correct.

If the M84 Decoder's Label on the backside of the M84 Decoder has a Serial-number where the last 5 Digits in the Serial-number
is inside the Serial-number range shown in the following listing :

41682-41861
40869-41501
40462-40783
38711-40423
37228-38126

M84 Serial-number

then the M84 Decoder has a Production-failure and can be replaced by your Dealer.

Contact your local Marklin Dealer for more Information.

Connect the M84 Decoder to the Programming-track and try to read out the M84 - CV Parameters under DCC.

If you can do that set CV 8 to the value "8" and try to reset the M84 Decoder under
DCC and see if this helps you with your problems.

The M84 Decoder only uses MFX-Protokol to add the M84 Decoder to the Article-List , after that the M84 Decoder is used
with the MM or DCC Protokol to control the Switching Articles.
