Hi I hope all OK.

Can I control an ESU Lok Sound 5 decoder, with MS2.?
Alternatively can I acquire Garratt sound files and using CS2/3 to load on to one of Marklin's latest sound decoders. ?

Thank You.javascript:insertsmiley('Cool ','/forum/Images/Emoticons/msp_cool.gif')

Yes. Even if it is a loksound 5 DCC you can still control it with an ms2 - in this case you need to make sure the ms2 has the DCC protocol turned on, but if you haven't messed with the settings it will be on anyway.

You could put Garret sounds in a Marklin decoder - but you won't be able to use the ESU sound file as that is encrypted. You would need to find suitable sound file somewhere else.

Marklin also encrypt the sound files they supply for the same reason.

Hi Alan, thank you for the information.

I have heard the quality and correctness of the Garratt sounds from an ESU decoder. It is nice.!!! At this stage it is a "secret" as to the source of the files. I will have to dig more.
As can be seen I run Marklin and will attempt to run a modified Garratt on my digital system.
Some photos much later, as I am battling issues like big turn circles, white metal soldering, keeping things clean and anticipation of many paint pitfalls.

Thank you.

HANNES.
