Can the Mobile Station 2 be used to control the Uncoupler Track 24997. If so what decoder can be used. The only reference I see is to use the 60830 K-83 decoder, which is no longer available. Any help would be appreciated.

The 60830 has been replaced by the 60831, which is available now.
This is the only way to control an uncoupler track at the moment. You can also get similar decoders from Viessman. |

Yes, the Mobile Station 2 can control an uncoupler track as well as other accessories. But only by using an accessory decoder as Ray mentions. :-) You can get accessory decoders for both Motorola (MM) and DCC from a couple of manufacturers like: Märklin (#60831) Viessmann (#5211, Motorola or #5212, DCC) Littfinski (#S-DEC-4-*) ( http://www.ldt-infocenter.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:s-dec-4) If you use DCC for the accessory decoders you have more options from other manufacturers as well. |

Hello, I operate multiple uncouplers and semaphores with old Marklin 6083 k83s and with Viessmann 5211s using a 60214 CS2 and a 60653 MS2. Both work well. I have no experience with the more recent 60830 or 60831 boxes. My 6083s came from eBay. Listings are fairly common at around $30(+ or -) plus shipping. A new VM 5211 retails for about $37 plus shipping. I've never seen one listed on North American eBay. As an aside, a 60831 offers a few more features, can use an external power supply, and may require an additional 60821 board for turnout motors, all of which seem a bit of overkill for my (no DCC) needs. But since I've never used one, no cogent advice. Regards -- Richard |

Thanks for all the information. I will end up going with the 60831 decoder for my uncoupler track

Here is an example for wiring the MS2 to the Layoyt : and here is the way to connect the Marklin 24997 Unit to the Marklin 60830 (k83 Decoder) Each of the 4 outputs connector on the Marklin 60830 (k83) unit can control 2 Marklin 24997 Uncoupling units which give a total of 8 Marklin 24997 for each k83 Decoder. Hope the pictures will show you how to connect your Uncouplers to use them with MS 2. |
