That would be a nice feature. Is it also a wish or is it mentioned on the features list?

Can anyone tell me if there is a feature list?

Greetings,

Johny

Greetings,

Hi Johny
The changelog on the new version is in German at the end of my note.
By first testing the key changes seem to be:
- on memory track routes: added possibility to trigger a route only when a second condition is met (e.g.: normal trigger by entry1 ON or OFF, subjected to a condition ENTRY 2 ON or OFF. This is interesting because it allows the same track contact to trigger different routes depending on another entry.
- on symbols for locos function a small number of additional icons
- it is claimed that a double slip switch (DKW) can be rotated 4 times instead of 2: I didn't found that one
Note: loco selection screen is still 30 locos with a blue background (seems no change there)
Cheers from Paris
Jean

Besides the usual bug-fixes Marklin must have had obviously a lot of work with the new mDecoderTool and the Sound editor App on the CS2 itself.
(Although I do not think if I will use this a lot because I like to play with my trains, not constantly programming CVs and doing some sound editing).

For me the most interesting new feature in the 2.2.0 release is the addition of a second S88 contact in the route selection logic.
Hopefully this will make it possible for me to retire my good old 6043 memory which I used in interlocking mode for my shadow stations.
(Still have to test it thought...but..very little free time at the moment..)

A little off-topic:
Furthermore I'm curious if we will see a new firmware release again during/after the Nurnberg Toy Fair (end of januari 2013).
As Marklin stops producing the current 763xx Light semaphores I guess they wlll come up with new versions of them.
I inquired with Marklin about the 'out of production' status in the database as I still wanted some more of these for my layout
and they came back with the answer:
"As we cannot comment on new planned items, let's see what surprises will be seen on the Nurnberg Toy Fair in a few weeks".
I know it's a bit cryptic but at least they did not give the answer they would stop producing them completely.
Regards,
Jos

Now with the new update 2.2.0. / 2/10 you can make your own noises in combination with the mDT-tool. See Märklin homepage under decoder updates.
You can also make cv-registering in the new tool and after that you send the software over the CS2 to the loc.

Yes I think they will also make new semaphores und maybe new decoders for switching. May be also a new system for the S-88 decoder ????

Confused yes! But if I had to choose, give me technical accuracy (proof read) and completeness.
Also I find the manuals far too wordy - give me a image/schematic (video) , they speak in any language.

Hello.

I have found a jpg picture un Internet. With Adobe Photoshop I converted it to 128X48 pixel and 72 pix/inches resolution, colour indexed, png format.

I hope you like it.

Here it is. It is showed at low quality but when you upload this file to your CS2 you can see it well.

Thank You Ruben Spain!

That looks great, Woot and even better on the CS2,ThumpUp ThumpUp very nice work! I really apreciate it. I went as far as downloading a picture and had not worked on it since. I really need to learn how to use photoshop.Confused I will try to make one for the end coach with the dimensions you used.

Another thing I have been wondering about is when I upload the icons to the CS2, I get get the message that update was unsuccessful, yet the icons are added to the database and work fine???

The only thing I do to upload icons is the following:

1. I use a blank usb pendrive
2. I make a folder named icons
3. I copy the png image to the folder icons
4. I put the pendrive in the usb port of CS2
5. In the SETUP menu>>>CS2 I select USB stick
6. I press the update program option
7. Then CS2 reset and start the upgrade
8. The message I recieve is "update successful"

My CS2 is 60124, HW 4,33 software 2.0.1

If your CS2 is still showing the unsuccessful message then it is possible your software has a bug. You can download the cs2update.tgz file (it is the 2.0.1 version from january ) from maerklin.de and make a new update with this software version

http://maerklin.de/de/pr...ds/software_updates.html

Try to do this. Maybe your problem could be corrected.

Happy new year

Hello, in the Marklin catalog mentions a 2013 update of the CS2 (2.5.0) with which we seem to lead mfx locomotives from a cab in one's own screen of CS2. Can also set the amount of fuel, water, coal ... for the locomotives

Put the memory stick into the USB port on your CS2, and run an update (select USB stick) (disconnect your CS2's ethernet cable/wireless connection before you do this, so that the CS2 is not connected to the internet). The update will load the icon files into your CS2.

Hi and thank you for the files to update the locomotive icons. I downloaded the files and exteacted them from the zip file format. I then put both files on a usb stick and pluged the usb stick into my central station. I went to the setup screen on the cs2 and chose usb stick and then chose update file. I received a message that the update failed. I tried this at least 30x and still received a message that the update failed. Any thoughts on what to do?

Did you create an 'Icons' directory in the root of your USB memory stick, and place the .png files in that directory?

Other than that, try another USB stick. The USB stick should be formatted as FAT32, and be at least 1Gb in size.

I have the app installed in my IPOD 4th generation (IOS 6.0.1). It works perfectly. When I start the app it scan the network for a CS2, and a after few seconds my CS2 is found. Then I can play trains with the IPOD.

Many of us have this app... I have an iPod & iPad that run these apps. If you have an iPad, you can also use the more extended Central Control app...

The Mobile Station app is very simple to use, as long as you have the CAN gateway properly set up with your router local IP Range & .255 in the CS2.
It works directly and the iPod finds the CS2 by itself.

Of course you have to have a wireless network at home and the CS2 connected to the same network via a cable. I think this iThingie support was introduced with CS2 sw version 1.64 or so...

Hi Steven
That is excellent news. Thank you. I was figuring that kind of date since the first MFX+ loco is due in February 2013
For me it is not so much for the gaming with consumables (Coal, Diesel, etc) but for additional fixes like the the screen lock on the LAYOUT screen.
Cheers

Many of us have this app... I have an iPod & iPad that run these apps. If you have an iPad, you can also use the more extended Central Control app...

The Mobile Station app is very simple to use, as long as you have the CAN gateway properly set up with your router local IP Range & .255 in the CS2.
It works directly and the iPod finds the CS2 by itself.

Of course you have to have a wireless network at home and the CS2 connected to the same network via a cable. I think this iThingie support was introduced with CS2 sw version 1.64 or so...

Hi Juhan,

Can you use an IPad and IPod similaneously connected to the CS2, so you can have say, the IPad with it's "Main Station" App running whilst controlling an individual Lok with the IPod ??

I don't see why not, as the connections are just tcpip connections, via wifi. The CS should treat any contention over loco control the same as it would between a CS and MS.

Hi Glen,

yes, you can use all devices simultaneously. Not sure, whether there is limit for the number of devices (I suspect 64 or 256). I did a test with CS2, 2 MS2, iPad and iPhone and all worked fine for me.

best regards
Jörg

The connections are actually UDP not TCP for this interface.

I meant that comment to mean as part of the generic tcpip protocol suite, I wasn't talking about a specific protocol. UDP is part of the tcpip suite of protocols, or was the last time I looked!

Not that it's critical to the discussion, but UDP is not a part of TCP.

Both UDP and TCP can sit atop IP, but they are different protocols all together. TCP is connection based, UDP is connectionless. Marklin implemented a CAN over UDP protocol for their CS2 interface. With UDP you're basically broadcasting messages and hoping they make it. There's no guarantee of delivery.

I have the app installed in my IPOD 4th generation (IOS 6.0.1). It works perfectly. When I start the app it scan the network for a CS2, and a after few seconds my CS2 is found. Then I can play trains with the IPOD.

See this document:

Kind regards

Hi and thanks for the info. I'm using a linksys router and its not my wireless router for the internet. Its an additional router just for my train room. I followed the directions stated in the marklin digital news letter and I'm still not connecting. My latest update for the ipod is ios 6.1
Can you give me any more advise?
Pat

No, but it IS part of the Internet Protocol suite, which is the point I was trying to make. When I made my initial comment I was referring to the Internet Protocol in the generic sense, even though pedantically speaking I should not have referred to it as 'tcpip'. But I did, so there you are!

WOW!!! That's great, thanks Stephen!

Btw, to upgrade to v3.0, do I need to upgrade to v2.5 first, or can I jump directly to v3.0?

Sony

Hi Stephen,

Sorry, I mean v2.2 (update on November/December last year).
My CS2 version is before that update. Can I directly upgrade to v3.0?
Also, could you please provide the link?

from maerklin.de, I see 4 files, but I don't know which one.

» cs2update.tgz (5.694,83 kb)
» cs2update_V1.4.0.tgz (7.106,86 kb)
» cs2update_V1.6.4.tgz (18.308,18 kb)
» cs2update_gfp1.36.tgz (17,38 kb)

Thanks again.

BR,
Sony

Sony, you are looking at the files for the USB stick upgrade, and they are at v2.0.1

You need to plug your CS2 into your internet router, and run an update on the CS2 from the setup screen. There are plenty of threads on the forum describing how to do this.

The changelog tells that most changes of version 3.0.0 are only relevant for mfx+ (and will be visible with mfx+ locos only).
The changes previously announced for version 2.3 (e.g. grey loco selection screen with only 25 locos) are on the changelog for future versions (3.x.x).

There is also a bug fix with respect to s88 polling.
Regards
Tom
