I thought woman only had intuition. So nobody knows when it is coming nobody knows what is in the upgrade. So we have never had it so we will never miss it and for some of us it spells stress i.e. do update and loose all my signals again. Having said that now that I have mains internet plugged directly into the back of the cs what can go wrong. ha ha ah ha.

Hello.

Please, somebody knows what is the matter with the "new" update? It is still 2.0.1

Was it only a fake information or Marklin is going to upload to the Web the new one soon?

Thank you.

That is a big upgrade. I have just translated it and most of it is way over my head. Not sure what they mean by cutting locos from 30 to 25. It would have been great to have a more up to date data base of current loc's and more up to date train icons.

Charles, you can do that yourself, easy peasy! Just did it on my CS2 a week or so ago. I'll find the url of the site where you can download additional png icon files.

Couldn't find the url quickly, but here's the icon files that I used. Unpack both of these zip files into an 'icons' folder on a USB memory stick - png files should be in 'icons' directory, with no other subdirectories). Best not to have any other files or folders on the memory stick.

Put the memory stick into the USB port on your CS2, and run an update (select USB stick) (disconnect your CS2's ethernet cable/wireless connection before you do this, so that the CS2 is not connected to the internet). The update will load the icon files into your CS2.
File Attachment(s):
Loco_icons.zip (2,012kb) downloaded 118 time(s).
CS2-Bilder_Maerklin.zip (2,768kb) downloaded 116 time(s).

I think this just refers to the number of locos that show up in the selection screen when you are selecting a new loco. Will have to check that one though.

That wasn't it. I updated my CS2, the loco selection screen stays at 30 locos.

The most noticeable change is that the speedo indicator is now blue!

CS2 is updated to v2.1.7 (3) and TFP is also updated to v2.10

IMHO the bally loco selection screen (showing 30 locos per page, no filter) is one of the biggest disadvantages of the CS2. Now they "improved" that dang thing to show only 25 locos at a time ...
And they changed the frame colour for a more consistent look.ThumpUp
I presume the CS2 can still store more than 25 locos ... Wink

That point refers to version 2.2.0 (the version available for download is 2.1.7, still with 30 locos per page).

You're right.
But some chaps post only Google translations - and a lot gets lost in that translation. It makes good sense to include the German text or a link to the German text.

Excellent web interface now works with linking ThumpUp

Shall see if it has been successful better to finalize the translation to Swedish tonight RollEyes

Something that I have never understood is their log when it says final beta version 2.2.0 and it deliver something between 2.1.1.

What features might have come up with in this lower version Confused

Guys,

1. I didn't post a google translation at once because these translations are not always very good and it just gets more confusing
(you can do it yourself off course). I will do one in a follow up post.

2. It was already almost 1 AM over here in the Netherlands as I discovered the update by checking it on the Internet just before shutting down my railroad.
But still exited about the update so I just made a quick post to trigger you guys that the update was available.

3. The running update 2.1.7(3) has no description in the change log. As far as I can see the 2.2.0 items are not implemented. (at least not the loco selection screen that has been sized down to 30. On mine I still count 30 most recent loc icons).

4. The sensitivity of the track layout screen has been decreased as I always was scrolling this page while touching a switch or signal icon.
There are now 4 direction arrows on the bottom. But I cannot remember if they were already present in the 2.0.1 version.

5. A new mSD sound firmware update is also available (1.20), and perhaps other ones but I only have one recent mSD decoder to check.

6. TFP is indeed on 2.10 as Bigdaddynz noticed.

7. One change i'm very happy with is that they added a second S88 condition to trigger a memory route depending occupancy on this second S88 feedback section. Until now I used the old Memory device to block tracks on the shadow station that were occupied for the entering train. So i'm eager to test this if I now can decommission the old memory device and use the CS2 from now on to handle my shadow stations.

8. Now some speculation: As the change log indicates version 2.2.0 (with functions not yet implemented) I have the impression that the version that is now available will receive some updates online for the time to come before the definitive released version will be available on the Marklin website.
Regards,
Jos

How could the CS2 choose the Icons you want to delete (among 30 Icons).....Don't you think you've probably something to do ?
Are all the 30 Icons efficient ?...
just my 2 cents...

AFAIK so far DHCP worked only if you plugged the network cable in before powering the CS2.
Maybe it now also works when the cable is plugged into a running CS2.

After clicking "All", the loco selection screen can be used to control the selected loco. Maybe they now show the function buttons for the selected loco (so far there were none). Just a speculation ...

The version you downloaded is 2.1.7. The new loco screen is a 2.2.0 feature, so it's not in your version.

I have downloaded the new update and all went well. At the end it ask me this question TFP with UID 426F4FBO version 2.0. Do I want to update to V2.10?. So I said yes and a bar code type of icon came up saying do not switch off. I have left this for 3 hours and nothing has happened. So I shut down the CS 2 as per normal waited 2 mins and turned it back on again. I now have the same question come up about TFP what do I do.

Hope it has some insurance if something happens.....

....because they ask for a downgrade sincerely I would have said "no"....
I think it may be a matter of translation of the world "update" ....I'm curious to see what happens in other languages...(German/French/ etc....)
what happens to people who said "NO" ?

I have just gone to my CS and ticked the x /no and it came back 4 times and then it went to the normal screen. I have now switched the unit of. I have just bought a new CS two weeks ago and if this update makes my unit fail the shit will hit the fan as far as M is concerned. They will pay for me to sit at the factory until both of my units are repaired.

Worked fine for me, and I'm in NZ, 12000 miles away (I know distance shouldn't matter).

I clicked on the green tick and let it do its thing. TFP was updated on my CS2 to v 2.10 - I have a 60214 at hardware v3.1

I tick yes after two TGF message (I think it update the 60174 booster, I have two).

Nothing wrong with it.

It also proposes that MS2 should rollback language version 1.47 instead for the new 1.50.

Did you try to update your device once more after 2.1.7 ?

It looks more like everyone has a Beta version instead of 2.2.0 Cool

Hi all!

I have tried do update my CS2 with the new update, but no luck. I connect as I always do the CS2 through my router, run update, it shows the progress bar doing something and then shows me the dialog box "the last update was sucessful". When i check the version it still has the same 2.0.1. My hardware version is 3.6 (it's a 60214) Tried it several times with the same result all the time. First time that the updating of the CS2 failed altogether.
Don't know what to do. I guess I will wait.Confused

Today I updated my 60214 Hw 4.33. I connected the CS2 to my router, it took the IP 192.168.1.129 (DHCP), and then I pressed the update icon. A couple of minutes later the CS2 showed the message "last update was successful" and the message to update the GFP to 2.1. I ticked the green icon and then I Have updated the GFP with success.

Now my CS2 is 2.1.7 and GFP 2.1.

It works without problems.

Märklin has rollback the server version to 2.0.1 with TFP 2.0, because 2.1.7 is a wrong publish beta version not recommended for end users.

That is not good! Hope that it will not crash the systems of who have already made the update!

Thanks

Why publish it in the first place?? That's stupidity of the highest order, and asking for trouble, if you're accidentally releasing a beta version into the public domain.

Hi Jonas,

Is this an assumption from your part or did you receive an 'official statement' about this.

I personally think that Marklin indeed accidently released a beta version on their servers because of the blue tacho on the control screen.
This colour has been mentioned a few times on the stummi forum being a developer version.

Fortunately the upgrade worked flawlessy, including the upgrade of the TFP in my 60214 hw version 3.1 and my 60174 booster.

Untill now no problems while running my CS2.
I noticed there are some new function icons already availble as mentioned on the version 2.2.0 release notes.
Also the sensitivity of the layout screen has been reduced as i can now hit a switch or signal on this screen
without the nervous scrolling around of the layout screen.

If you plug in a USB stick with at least 1GB in size and hit the soundfiles update button on the setup screen
the CS2 starts downloading all the files needed for the new sound programming tool.
Also downloaded are all the sound and firmware files you already could download from their internet pages,
so you don't have to transport them to your CS2 with a USB stick anymore.
Be warned as it took a few hours before the download was complete.

On the USB stick is a Windows installer downloaded for the new sound programming tool.
In the manual of the tool there are several 'beta' notices indicating an early release.
After installing I played a little with the program and it seems you can do a lot with sounds and decoder settings.
But I need to get some time to study the manual as all looks very complex to a first time user.
Regards,
Jos
