Hi,

Are all three pole motors with a permanent magnet the same and can they all be driven by the same type of decoder?

Which decoder would be best for such a motor?

These questions are because I converted a Fleischmann loco that has a three pole motor and a permanent magnet to AC 3-rail using a marklin fx decoder out of a BR 86 from starter set 29533. The lok runs choppy at low speeds and the lights flicker. But at high speeds it runs smooth. The lights are fine at a stand still. I used marklin inductors (chokes) between decoder and motor. I'm pretty sure its a motor-decoder interaction, as all parts have been cleaned, oiled, etc.

I'd use a LoPi or a UHL 76320 (this one is cheaper). You can modify CVs in both in order to perfectly match every motor needs.

GFN is short for Fleischmann ("Gebrüder Fleischmann, Nürnberg").
GFN manufactured locos for Märklin - sometimes with Fleischmann motor.
