can the plastic hooks on a 3371 ICE train be replaced? They appear to be riveted into place and I'm not sure if they are replaceable. If so where would I get parts.

Plastic hooks? I presume you are referring to the coupling between coaches.
These should be available as a spare part from Maerklin. You can see the schematic diagram at www.maerklin.de under produkte and ersatzteilliste.
You can also Google Ersatzteilliste Maerklin 3371 which should provide you the same link.
Parts orders can be made c/o your local Maerklin dealer or directly at ersatzteile@maerklin.de

Hello Thomas,

no, Märklin has no spare parts for the train. They sold everything long time ago.
There are some shops who bought the spare parts stock of Märklin and sell the parts by themselves and high prices on Ebay.

As Stephan mentioned correctly, Märklin doesn't have spare parts for this train anymore.

You might want to check here (they are also referenced by the Märklin factory service): http://www.ttn-shop.com/

Just select "parts chapter", "HO" and then "couplings". The one you (and not just you biggrin) apparently need has part #00.14.0. wink

Ok. They still have a few spare parts as indicated on their page for this model, mostly common also for other products. Unfortunately those desperately missing couplings (#254020 and #254340) are no longer available since long time ago, not even anymore at the repair center. wink

As always you guys are a great source. Obtaining the parts hadn't been a thought when I started this thread. I bought a train from someone that claimed it was new. it wasn't. As I looked at it I wondered if these broken coupler hooks could even BE repalced. They appeared riveted plastic to plastic. The person that sold it to me says they'll take it back. If so I'm only out shipping 2 ways. If not I'll be back here with the entire factual story and a warning on not to do business with this person. I won't want any of my friends here to get burned by him too.
