After too many attempts to aquire an original 3371 ICE train, I have reached an impasse. My first attempt ended up in getting me an 8371 Hamo version. It was perfect in every way except it was DC. A couple failed attempts to get one later and I finally think I'm closing in. The other day I obtained another 3371. When I put it together and placed it on my layout it demonstrated a dead short tripping the transformer. Step by step I worked through the parts trying to isolate the problem until I found that a previous owner had changed the screw attaching the slider on one of the power units. I clipped the screw, re-installed it and viola, it came back to life. Once I had the 4 unit train running properly, I thought, I still have the 2 cars from the 8371 and wondered if they would work. They do, and now I have a nice 6 unit 3371 that cost me way too much, but I still love it.
Here is my dilema. One of the pantographs is damaged and won't stay down nor is it straight. I am looking for another. the Marklin part number is 254450. and neither of the power units have the front axel covers on them, the pieces that replicate the suspension. So I also need 2 of these. Marklin part number 253550. If any of you have these or know of an actual source that does have these in stock, I'd really like to buy them. My last option will be to use the power units from the 8371 as salvage, which is probably whay I'm planning on doing for the coachwork anyway.
Still I'd rather have 2 complete sets if it was possible.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

the pantogtaph seems to be available at the spare-part-shop on Märklin homepage (priced € 34,95). Can't find the other part though...

Hi everyone!!

I have a technical question on the ICE 3371 that some of you might have already experienced.
About 6 months ago I purchased in ebay the Marklin 3371 ICE TRAIN which came with the two powered head units (410 002-0 and 410
001-2) and not cars in between. The train is not digital and I tested it in my analog layout.
However, the train moves in one direction only. The head with the 410 001-2 inscription is the one that goes in the forward direction. I am not
sure which one of the heads is powering the motion. Applying the high reversing voltage pulse to the tracks does not reverse the train at all.
Other than that, the units run perfectly.

Has anybody run into this problem of not being able to reverse direction?

Regards, Roberto
