Wow! Thanks, Dave...
I have to say that is probably the best and most detailed shots I've seen of a new BR 39 to date.

Simply a very wonderful model.. I think Marklin did a marvelous job there (now I want one [:p])

Congrats..

I'll have to check Tim. Certainly the tender is solid enough, with plenty of metal in it.

Stephen, I have only run it about 2 laps around my layout, but there has been no problem with R1 curves, turnouts, curved turnouts or double slip switches. And as you know, all my layout is M track.

My 'Outsider' price was 399 euros less VAT plus postage. It is a beautifil loco, and the sounds are great too - they are unique to the Br39, not just a copy of the Br01 sounds.

Yep, found the firebox light too, that looks great as well. Haven't got a smoke unit yet for it, but will do soon. The lights are white LED's, look good to me (but then I'm not too fussy about these minor details). A very impressive, finely detailed model are my first impressions (given the limited running so far).

I also observed that there were some new icons on the CS after the Br39 had registered itself, that I had not seen before. I'm specifically referring to the Man Shovelling Coal icon.

Thanks for the link Lutz. Do those icons specifically apply to the CS2 only? I have a CS1.

The icon that appears on my CS1 is different to the one in the list Lutz refers to in his link (2nd column 9th one down - 'Kohle Schaufein') - the icon on my CS1 has a man with a shovel and a pile of coal.

I'll post a piccie of the CS screen when I get home, a picture is better than my attempts at describing.

Here's the first of the Br39 ebay auctions from one of the more well known ebay Marklin dealers. A bit expensive though, at 449 euros.

Nice Pål, I think 16 coaches may be too many for my layout! I see Trix are doing a similar set, but only 8 coaches (23437).

Steven, do we get some pictures of your Br39? Did you get the 'Pike' car set as well (42269)?

In an italian forum someone noticed problems in runnings. The transmission of motion is not given by gear wheels, but by the connecting rods, as in the prototype.
The second axis has a sticking point at every turn. This makes the motion transmission irregular. The only thing that reduces the trouble seems to be lubricating it with tons of oil.

Has anybody noticed something similar?

Pietro

Your problem of smoke is probably due to the contact between Seuthe tube and the small metal strip .May be you have to push the tube in the cheminey a little bit more (1 mm or 2...)

Your picture with BR 39 is very nice....
Thank you.
