Hi Piper What do you think of the class 39? I hope you were as excited as Monster 134 was when he listened to the sounds for the first time. My opinion the steam sound is more impressive than that of the class 23. The class 23 does however have an echo in the whistle sound, fantastic. The latest released locomotive sounds set a new standard Steve

Very good Stephen. Because NZ is outside the EU, I don't have to pay VAT. Total cost was 375 EUR inc postage. The bank charged another 3.5% for the forex transaction. Hopefully, no incoming GST will be incurred (has never happened to me yet on a parcel coming from Europe, and only once from the US).

Here's hoping for those of you who want one, it seems this loco is very popular.

"...BR39 in back order...but I'm not sure whether all customers will take them"...
My dealer told me the same thing.
Also : according to him, from that year onwards the "philosophy" of Marklin about limited editions becomes very strict, much more strict than before...(improved monitoring of production and stocks)

Don't think that they'll have what it takes to stop eBay though...wink
Price will go up in the 'black market' as a result, but poor M* still won't see a cent more in revenue.

regarding MRR market, more particularly Marklin, depending on what you call "black market"....
( for me "black market" = non official or non visible or not under controle or....[V] )

Well ebay would qualify for 2 of those categories Roland - non official and not under M's control. But I guess by black market, you may be referring to the likes of the cheap Chinese knockoffs.

I think Tim is using the term 'black market' in the sense of a market not directly advocated by or under Marklin's control, ebay would be such a place.

Correct..
Thanks, Dave.

I can understand M* probably feeling a bit frustrated with eBay activities (breaking up starter sets, Insider items for outsiders, etc); but I really think they should move beyond 'trying to prevent' such activities ; rather try and think of a strategy to use it in their favor.

Got the BR39 yesterday, along with the non-sound version of the BR23. Both are very nicely executed and ran marvelously on my sons small layout.

I must say I completely prefer the BR39's metal smoke deflectors to the BR23's plastic ones (reminds me too much of my Roco Br23).

Question: Will the CS2 pick-up new PNG's from Marklin for new loco's the same way it auto checks for software updates?

Panayotis, the Br39 has been rather scarce on ebay, I was lucky to get the one I did. Most of the ones that have been on ebay have gone to auction, and have sold in the region of 450 euros. The RRP is 399 euros.

I guess you will just have to keep watching ebay to see if any more Br39's become available, else you may have to wait until Marklin release the Br39 as a regular catalog item.

Good Luck.

Most German dealers will have some available in a month or two at the same price as for insiders.
Every year many insiders that order the model dont collect it and I have always been able to get one if I want it.

where are all those nice pictures from Lutz ?
Did Lutz really leave this forum ? [:0]
He also gave a link leading to so many close- up pictures....

We have no more pictures of BR 39 now....[V]

I feel really angry now with all those stupids guys who were harassing Lutz continously....
I can understand him....but if Lutz had left definitely it is a big loss for this forum.
With current nasty atmosphere, this forum will die rapidly....

I've heard this many times, forums are made of people not one person. Maybe Lutz should set-up a forum for "Lutz frolics", I'm sure it'll be a huge success since there are so many information/technology free-riders and handmuster-photo additcs.

You agree on the "stupid" part or?

I'm pretty relaxed, thanks. I just think it would be more appropriate to find a better word than "stupid"; loosing our ceativity ... not good.

As to where Lutz's photos are, you will have to ask him, as Juhan suggests in another thread.

Here are a couple of photos I have, I'm sorry I can't remember where I got them from, they are not Lutz's, but they may have come from a url that Lutz posted.

Edit: I suspect these photos may have come from a post on Stummi's forum.

And I'm sure I have some others, again they probably came of a Marklin website, the url to which would have been supplied by Lutz.
