I have had the solder come away from the light and oil on the plate where it connects, worth a try?

are the tangs on part 5 bent enough to touch and are they clean?

This is a tough issue. Most of the time, adjusting the circuit board tangs solves the problem.

I just would like to ask a few questions, I hope you don’t mind.

Would you have a similar locomotive which you could use to test the lights? See if the results are the same on a different chassis. As long as it has the same length chassis, it may be a Br 200 or 151 from the same period as your release.

No chance this might still be on warranty from your vendor? I believe this is an older 5 pole chassis which has been around for a while.

Do you have a source for old Marklin z parts? It is possible the circuit board is defective. Is it possible to check the LED by using text probes from the controller?

Does this model have the LED module fastened to the shell. It might not be possible to replace these. Just getting them loose from the shell, however, might cause serious damage. I have seen the light module removed and soldered to the tangs. I don’t believe this is a solution. Placing the shell back on the chassis correctly becomes an issue.

There may be a source for the lights, but I am not certain Marklin will have them. You may need to do more research to get the correct LEDs. High-tech modelbahn might be of assistance. https://www.z-hightech.d...g=6&sprache=englisch Shipping might be prohibitive.

I don't have any experience with this particular model, but I do know about electronics. The fault here certainly could be with the LED itself, but it could also be with the supporting circuitry, which probably consists of a regular diode a resistor and capacitor. Capacitors of the type used here are prone to fracture due to mechanical stress and that can cause them to fail over time in a way consistent with your description.

If I'm correct, though, the circuit board with the LEDs is mounted in the body shell and not easily removed and I think that is the major obstacle to resolving the problem. If you can remove the PCB it can almost certainly be repaired and you may even be able to sweet talk Marklin into sending a replacement. I'm very happy to help or advise if you do manage to get it out.
