Märklin Mikado 37970 - Front coupler pocket too high?

Joined: 19/09/2022(UTC) Posts: 461 Location: Kaarina		Hi guys, it's been a while! I got the Märklin Mikado New York Central (37970) and was wondering is there a trick for the front NEM pocket? It is positioned too high and I'd like to put a standard short coupler to it. I don't know what standard it conforms to, but it's clearly at a wrong height for normal Märklin operation. Bought this second hand in original box, but the manual was missing. Best regards, -Eino

		Regards, Jim I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains! So many trains and so little time.

I sort of refuse to believe that they would have produced a model where the coupler at the other end is not suitable for coupling… -Eino

So there was no need to position it at a usable height. The prototype would have seldom used the front coupler anyway. It is really strange that there is no manual available, since they are posted for a lot older locomotives.

Joined: 13/02/2008(UTC) Posts: 812		Hi! I just checked my Mikados. The manual only states how to change the rear coupler but never mentions the front coupler. All my Mikados include only 2 figures and no extra parts. I guess the front coupler is not meant to be used as a coupler on the model just as many here have mentioned.
