Hi A french Marklinist reported that this new update created a problem on his booster and he was forced to roll down the booster update (it was detecting short circuits when there was none). I cannot verify myself having no booster with my CS3 so tale it with a grain of salt Cheers Jean |

Is this the same update as the previous one that reduced the booster output? If so, I didn't update it, so I can backup the CS 3 on the system and USB drive before I do the next bigger update and if it's a problem, I can restore down to the former version?

Before any update I first do a dated backup to the CS3 and a thumb drive for that very reason.

Unless it has changed, a backup only saves off your registered decoders and the settings, not the CS3 or booster software. I can be done but it is not that simple. There have been posts here on how to find the files and save them off, so you can back out of the new (buggy) updates. We have some solid digital experts here, so fact check this please. |

I go back to a time when computer memory was measured in k and not g so a bit antiquated. The basic operating system is not accessible but the software must be as suggested by the dramatic change in Events.

Ok, thanks guy's! So when the next major update is released, will the booster downgrade (this one) automatically be updated with it, or can I uncheck it before I run it all? I don't want the booster amperage lowered.

(updates the 60175 booster from 3.85 to 3.94, and the MS2 from 4.15 to 4.28 ) and no change logs.......

Some things I wish for are, for example, that when updating FW or loading a project, the unit remains in the programming environment and does not start up the entire railway so it stays only with programming track.
Should also be possible to add loco images for multi-connected engines.... it's a little easier to find them. |

I just did an update of my MS2 and it seemed to be much more extensive based on the amount of time it took and included a "defrag". So some files must have been deleted and then replaced.

I just tried the upgrade and when I updated a booster, type 60174, it started tripping out as if a short circuit existed. A restore didn't fix it as just as Jim suggested above. I didn't update any of the other boosters, I can live with the red dots.

Roger I also got some strange with older 60174 booster Suddenly, a locomotive with an mSD3 decoder (FW3.3.6.2) short-circuited, and I had to remove it. After a while, I was able to put it back and run it again. Very strange, I got the feeling that it happened after the power came back a few times in a row when updating some with FW. If you update the firmware with a factory project older than 3.3.0.0 on the engine, you should reload the sound project thru mDT3 v3.6.0 which updates settings to a higher version. |

Does the software booster downgrade affect the internal CS 3 booster?

My booster firmware was then updated from 3.85 to 3.94.
After that the CS3 the booster indicated a short-circuit (????) I was sure that there was no default on my track. The CS3 was working fine. I have disconnected my booster from the track; the message was still on the screen !!!!!!!, i have then started to understand that there was an error in the uodate. I went back to 2.4.1. After that everything was working fine.
So i confirm a bug in the booster update 3.94. I've made a message to Marklin. I have a ticket number from the customer service. So, if you have a booster, take care of that and wait before upgrading to 3.94.

FWIW, I believe that if you correctly set the Transformer/PowerSupply setting to match what is actually connected, the appropriate threshold will be used My observation is that a booster driven by a transformer will readily provide > 22V in the early (no/low load) stage of the V/Load curve. With the CS3 having set such a connection as for a Transformer (60052) there is no short message If you set it to a PowerSupply , you will get the message. Noting that there is also a 15V setting - for use with the 6004x when the Switch set as such. As an example the following images show the same booster with a) 60052 defined b) 6004x(not 15v) defined Note that the voltage reading is about the same, BUT the scale and red threshold changes This may not be the only refinement with the new code, For example in my case The product code has been courupted randomly. a 60173 now shows 6017 a 60213 (internal booster) now shows 6021 |

The 60061 being absent I not new. More importantly, the reason for the grouping is not converyed in the simply list That reason being to set the threshold so that the CS3 (or Booster) "turn track off" before their design cutout. e.g. if you have a 60061 (60VA) but set the definition for 60101(100VA) then as your layout draws current approaching 5Amp, the CS3 will not "politely warn you". Instead the 60061 will cut out completely. This may be acceptable for a booster, but if it is our CS3(CS2) a full reboot is needed. |

I have a bit high mains power voltage so when I tested my old 6002 on the booster it gave me a track voltage above 24v idle with red bars. So changed the transformer to a 240v one for the booster, and it also powers the old 6021. so idle track voltage is aroun23v-23,3v hoverer I'm tempted to dig out the 6002 again and see what happens. I have not seen any wrong product codes so far.

I had a red button for system update yesterday and today it was gone. Forgot to record version so do not know if cs3+ auto updated. Seems to work fine. I do not have a booster (using delta controller as booster, with mixed success). Ben |

I did the last update 2.5.2 (6), 3 days ago, and whenever I put CS3 on standby, the msg appears that there is an overload situation. There is no "short" as the layout works smoothly. How do I report to Märklin? Thank you very much.

Good morning
Can anyone tell me how I can revert back to a previous version of software, in CS3+? The latest version 2.5.2 (6) is creating problems (overload situation), and I prefer to go back to the previous one. Thank you very much. Regards. Miguel

Hi MSanches,
I will recommend that you are looking at how your power supply is configured for your CS3, and for boosters, if you have any. I have heard that others have fixed the problem by updating the power supply configuration.
If you want to go back to the original version 2.5.2(6) software, you should download the software from Märklins homepage, and load it to a USB stick. To install it, I recommend to remove the network connection and remove the CAN bus connection, and insert the USK stick into the CS3. To load the software, hold down the left speedknob and the STOP button, until it starts to do the update. After rebooting, you can connect the network an the CAN bus again, but you should avoid to do updates when the red dot shows up.
Best regards Per
