Thank you for posting this and keeping us updated.
Quite an impressive salvage operation, in a tight space.Cool

In Norway, they sometimes transport transformers on roads and ships, due to remote locations. (and accidents have also happened, but it was scraped on site)
But they have managed to transport them on surprisingly narrow and curvy roads.

Thank you!
There were several videographers at the scene, some of whom I know personally, so more photos were found

It is a trained team that has been doing this several times a year for decades.

Later, that part of the wagon was raised hydraulically

Had there been an extra sidig long enough for 4 Goliath cranes, could they have lifted the wreckage and trafo?

The "smaller" ones that came first were used for removal
of an overturned wagon, 2 of them could also lift the transformer, but with a lot of risk, so it was decided to bring the biggest one (the transport of the disassembled one required 30 tow trucks!) After all, the smaller ones were used to assemble the biggest one, these days there will be work again to disassemble and transport everything.

that depends on how close they could get, the Goliath can "only" lift approx 45/32 metric tons at the maximum extension of the crane boom(16,4/19.5m). Crane's maximum capacity is often at very close distances (and often not very usable). On the Goliath its 7,5m

The train with the transformer on its way to the factory was filmed in Ljubljana

On the second day in Zidani most, the restoration of the contact network was immediately started
UserPostedImage
Soon, regular traffic was taking place on all tracks
UserPostedImage
It took two days to disassemble the largest crane and transport everything
UserPostedImage
In some moments it was very tight
UserPostedImageUserPostedImage
A total of 30 large trucks were needed to transport everything
UserPostedImageUserPostedImageUserPostedImage
That would be the end of this long story...

Messrs. Ponikvar and Dremelj have published a commendable pdf about everything that happened and resolved regarding the overturning of the wagon with transformer in the Zidan most- link
There is a lot of information and pictures about the station itself, special wagons and cranes! (The text is in Slovenian, but pictures and technical data do not need translation)
