Hi, I am considering converting this locomotive to digital using the 60906 decoder. The loco in pristine new condition, so I feel I'd like to retain the original parts as much as possible. My question is regarding the light output of the 60906, the light bulbs in this loco are only 1.5 volt. I'm thinking that the output of the 60906 light circuits is probably 16 volt? I've looked in the manual and I don't see anything about that.   |

With 22 V on the track you could get 20 V there. Maybe Märklin offer that type of bulbs in a version for 22 V for digital operation. When using the type for analogue operation (19 V) you can reduce the brightness using decoder settings. |

I may have found a solution in my own parts drawer, I use these Viessmann house lamps in some of my structures. Rated at 16 volts ac, and the bulb fits perfectly in the locomotive socket. So this might work if as you say I can reduce the voltage to the bulbs in the decoder settings.  |

The 60906 Decoder arrived in the mail a few days ago, so I completed the conversion with this decoder. Ignoring the good advice from other members to avoid this conversion, I pressed on because of curiosity. I'm actually quite pleased with the result. It has the analog hum at startup, but when she's running she's pretty quiet. The deceleration delay works rather well. The bulbs worked out perfectly. That's me in the cab checking gauges before departure! And I didn't mean to put BR in front of the 3366 in the title. Don't know how to change that.   |
