Knowing this version of DB class 103.1 electric locomotive may be sold out everywhere, I still hope to know where to buy it. Or, will the company release the article again in the future? How often will Marklin remake the model? I see one in 1975!

I really like its digital controlled pantograph. I know Roco has issued a similar one (Roco 78211 - Electric locomotive 103 195-4) but without pantograph control.

Thanks!

There is a 39579 on ebay.uk at the moment. This is the first version of the operating pantographs using a piezo motor.

I got a MS2. I guess it cannot run the loco's pantographs digitally. But anyway, thanks a lot for searching!

Why not? MS2's with the latest update (v3.55 or above) can control locos with 32 functions. The pantograph raising is a function which you engage with whatever controller you have.

This:

Due to the mechanical operation, the locomotive cannot be powered by catenary.

Great! I should give it a try. By the way, I watched some YT, for upgrading MS2, you need to connect a CS, and if you don't have one you need to go to the model store or friends who have it. Instead of buying a CS, are they only ways to upgrade?

Thanks!

You don't need to upgrade the MS2, for it to handle the 39579, since the locomotive only has light (F0) and 4 functions.

You should also be aware that the 39579 has a C-sine engine, and if it needs to be repaired it can be costly and require a custom solution. And the locomotive lacks mfx, DCC, and sound.

39150 is the new mould with the correct length, 39579 is the old mould - too short by 5 mm and with yellow LEDs.
Over time we can expect various livery variations of the new mould, but not all will have motorized pantographs.

Tom
