Is it Alpha track?

Alpha was a series of trains for kids produced in the late 80's / early 90's and featured a forerunner of what we know as C track.

Alpha track needs a small modification to connect with standard C track. I can't recall what the difference is off hand, but I'm sure someone will come up with the details.

But that is only needed if you expand your track with c track. If you are using the Alpha track on its own then nothing need change.

A very interesting topic Alpha Trains were phased out in 1995 and C-Track was introduced in 1996.

So in short:
- the track geometry (lengths, diameter) follows the M track
- the connecting section of the Alpha track is compatible withe the C-track EXCEPT a little plastic piece protruding from a C rail does not exist on Alpha track
It is very easy to remove on one C track to allow the connection.

One other topic: the plastic used. The early C-Tracks were aging very badly (a drop of 40 cm on wood floor would be enough to break them after 10 years of aging).
No panic it is true from 1996 until 2002 or so.
I am not sure but the same may very well be true with Alpha tracks
