If the transformer (controller?) is from the 1950-80s and you are trying to drive Märklin locomotives on Märklin tracks, the answer is NO.

Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

That depends.

Generally speaking the answer is no, because Marklin analog locos run on AC so would not respond to a Trix transformer which I assume uses a DC output.

Marklin track requires a centre rail pickup shoe on the loco used and the two outside rails are electrically joined (which they aren't on a 2 rail system). You would need a Marklin loco that could run on DC, or a Trix DC loco that had been converted with a centre rail pickup shoe added so that it could run on Marklin tracks to be able to use your Trix transformer.

You've raised this question is several threads, please do not do that! It's a sure way to annoy members and forum moderators.

I have merged the replies to your queries into this thread.

Contrary to what most ppl say here, you can actually run your old analogue Märklin locos fine. You just cant change the direction.
-Even if it´s not a "compatible" item.

Hi Henrik,
Thanks for clarifying that information.

I dug up an old thread on the Trix Express technicals here:
https://www.marklin-user...7899-What-s-Trix-Express

Therein and I quote:
Most TRIX-EXPRESS (TE) is DC. Only early models before ~1953 can be run with AC. But all Marklin transformers (execpt for Z and SPRINT) are delivering AC. So look out for any 12-14VDC-controller. Almost all US-brands used that system.

Markus
