They seem to be going the other way, we now have a Gauge 1 V320 following last year's H0 version.

Dear Jonas_sthlm:

Is this set a non prototype in Sweden? I see a pic of the actual museum loco. I like the color combo and may add the rubbish to my collection. I will probably order the set along with the French tin plate set and matching French loco. I was hoping for a re-issue of the Italian 60's-70's loco with the 2-tone brown tin-plate Italian coaches that are hard to find in excellent condition. Also the blood orange E94 Austrian loco. Another favorite.

Not just one, but most of the livery variations that it had in its lifetime AIUI. 5 locos at nearly 3000 Euro each would put a dent in anyones budget.

I find the last few marklin Insider cars a bit plain. I guess they represent a prototype that may not be otherwise modelled, or as a way of introducing some new tooling, but they do seem to be just 'ordinary'. They could have weathered it or done something to make it 'desirable'.

The Trix Proficlub wagon in comparison has a bit of decoration about it.

A few years ago, I requested that Maerklin make a model of a Re 6/6 (620) from the series 11605-11611. I did not want another Cargo locomotive, but rather one of the seven main series locomotives which remained in operation for SBB Passenger between 1999 and 2004. Passenger division also operated 11601-11604, but due to differences in design and appearance, they would not have been possible as Maerklin models.
I already have the 37321 and the 37326 in the Cargo livery and I don't know if I need a third. I still could use a Re 6/6 to go along with a year 1999-2003 EC, whether it be the EC "Tiziano" or "Riviera Dei Fiori" coach sets.

The 47106 SBB Cargo Sgnss car is interesting, but there are not many containers available on the market with the mountings needed to fit on these cars. You can use Herpa or other 20 foot containers with sockets with the Herpa 084192 adapters, but it would be nice to have a choice of loads for such a car and a Hupac version would probably have been more welcome due to increased possible uses internationally.

The 39461 Re 460 will be on my list. A model with separately applied wipers would have been a nice change.

Nice to see the 43613 RAlpin reissued with the correct doors for the prototype, but would it be too much for Maerklin to add the air conditioning unit on the roof and paint the gangways green?

Regards

I should say that the swedish market is already filled up with G2000 with two different numbers from B-models.

If they do a new tooling of already existing models from other brand they should consider do something extra like smoke generator.

We are overflowing with the same things and it dosent give any empathy to get more Huh

Nice selection. 😀
The new version of the Big Boy with UP cars, the Swedish G2000 (I've waited for this release) and the Danish train with departure lights on the side of the loc was a surprise.
The new 66 is really interesting but it will be too much for my budget.

As usual, some people are happy with the new items and some are disappointed that their own personal preferences have not been catered for.

As far as "replicas" go, I personally don't see the point of selling a brand new copy of a model built to the standard of the 1950s or 1960s when Marklin could design a brand new tooling for that prototype. There are plenty of older models still available on ebay for those who want the old tooling, and I have bought many of these in the past, such as the 3035, 3038, etc. My one exception has been a 30301 because I couldn't find a 3030 at the right price!

I would welcome from Marklin a new model of the SNCF BB9200, the FS E424, the SJ Da, etc. I'm sure others would too!

I agree with you Ray, it would be nice to see some new tooling of the older classics and Blue Box Replicas, though I quite enjoy them myself.

As such, it is a bit disappointing that both the French and Swedish Blue Box Replicas for 2020 have been done before in another guise. I already have the Le Capitol set and the earlier plain brown Da and coaches. It’s not as though Marklin are short of candidates for new Blue Box items. Oh well.

On the positive side, there are many other items to tempt me!

I like the era III version of the BR 78, but no sound . The era IV version has sound. So maybe next time.

Hello,

I really do love the re-issues of the classic Loks, as well as Tin Plate passenger cars. Over the years, I've purchased every one of the DB versions. They give me a chance to collect pristine digital versions of models that I missed when I was a kid. In addition, I know that I will always be able to repair the traditional Märklin motors. I'm not as confident about finding replacement can motors, should I ever need one.

The interesting thing I just realized is that over the last year, I have tended to run the re-issue Loks and cars more often than my modern versions of the same models. This is mostly because of the limited siding length of my current Tisch Bahn. As Märklin comes out with new toolings they move the Steam Lok sliders from under the boiler to the tender, which means you need longer braking areas. When I looked at my layout this morning, I saw the re-issued versions of the BR 01, BR 23, and BR 44! My re-tooled / modern versions of these loks with sound are all in their boxes, on my shelf.

While I certainly would have loved to have seen another DB re-issue (perhaps an BR 103 with matching Tin Plate IC cars), I will happily spend this year's allocation of funds on more track and digital infrastructure.Smile

I'm with you on the re-issues of the classic locomotives: I have most of the original tinplate passenger cars in near new condition and wanted new clean loks to pull them... and I wasn't disappointed!

Some great locomotives I'm definitely going to buy but zero wagons... I have to say that Märklin locomotives are the absolute best but wagons meh...

By the way, anyone has minitrix new items?
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :)

Yeah, I was disappointed with the features - headlights and shunting mode, but they have gone as far as fitting a full mfx decoder ... what the heck? Would have been nice to have some representative sounds. I know it is a 'replica' but that doesn't stop giving some additional features.

I am wondering if Marklin will make a foray into the UK market with a class 66 as these are extensively used in the UK as well. When you look at the prototype photo in the brochure you notice how much lower than the tank cars it is pulling the loco profile is. This would tend to lead to the idea that the prototypes are identical for UK and Europe, so producing an OO version in the Trix range for the UK market would not be a big deal, could be no more than a slightly bigger body on the same chassis, without it looking too badly proportioned. A UK DB Schenker anyone?

Hi everyone, I think this is a nice new catalogue, and a bit of something for everyone Drool I for one will take a few trains I never would have thought were coming in this catalogue, nor do they fit my primary modelling interests:

40691 Car Set- I LOVE tinplate coaches, so I'm excited for this livery! No need for the loco as I have an original I can convert (or leave analogue for that matter)
39422 Blue Re 4/4 - very much my SBB focus
46333 Gravel Cars - I love them, but a bit pricey... Could have done with a trix set and different numbers in order to make a 12 car train

The big thing for me (assuming I can get one) is the 30302 and 41921 SJ Museum train. Not because its limited, but I often travel to gothenburg for work and stalk this museum and those exact cars! What a pleasant surprise to see Marklin building them, and even more exciting that they are being done in tinplate!

The one thing that concerns me a bit is how many passenger trains in 2020 are coming with preinstalled lighting only. Its great, but ridiculously more expensive. I really think Marklin should stick to base model cars without lighting, and maybe through the dealer network sponsor some sort of marketing initiative for passenger car lighting...

My minor observations from a low budget user:

Fell in love on the very first page with the Isetta BMW bubble car

In the startup section a container in the livery CHINA SHIPPING very useful if modelling the M factory

Two confusing kofs 36345 & 36346 . Supposedly one with one without Sounds and Telex but the words don't agree with the spec table. Same road number on both and a difference in price of 80 Euros!

Although not my interest there does seem to be a lot more than usual Z scale stuff?

I don't get excited by New items until we see the delivery calendar. Anything I fancy usually falls into the bracket Quarter 4 if you are lucky.

I have big hopes for a Swedish X2000 in metal but I think itś unlikely. The Swedish RC locos with a red rear rear light would be awesome in full scale length.

The Jeco edition of X2000 is good, sure not metal, but never the less very good value for the money and it works well on the C-track in the 3R-version.

I take the Roco Rc-variants any day. The new ones are really nice and the 3R-versions work very well. Try, you wont be disapointed!

Is there any problem at marklin?

For my budget the number of new items is kind of infinite.
For me they are enough. I always thought that it can be too hard (costy) to have so many new items.
Nevertheless there are a lot of new items. The new items in general have higher detail, so they usually take more work hours to design and produce.
There are also several new toolings that also take time to create.
All in all I prefer less and better than a lot and worse.

Best regards,
Miguel

Quality vs quantity

RAm is a high level item, class 66 and BR78 needs high work

And notice only few items are one time series: all mhi items, Da from sweden, Big Boy ... and no much more

Not very impressed with Märklin's Swedish news in h0. Looks like potential shelf warmers to me, but I probably buy the container wagon set, and maybe maybe the Hector Rail class 941 (G2000).

Nice with Z-scale. Re with freight wagons.

Roco, black Rc3 and black A7 and B7 wagons.

Most exciting news is the new manufacturer HNoll who takes series production item modeling to a whole new level.

On Märklins other news: Big disapointment there is still no expansion of the C-track program. Bored Crying Cursing Mad

Dare we hope for some better news during the year from Märklin?

But have a look at the Trix Minitrix brochure, they are getting a bunch of new track pieces this year in n gauge ... and they have a huge number of curve radii ...

I would agree that the number of new items needed to be cut down, as some of the delivery times have been getting stupid.

But I am a bit annoyed that items that have already been announced don't have a flag "announced in Herbst 2019" or some such.

However, another reason for reducing the number of items, between the RAm (4 cars per train) and two ICE-4 items (including their expansion sets makes 9 cars per train) there will be quite a lot of work for the factory. along with that there are a number of wagon sets for both Marklin and Trix, and considering the way the brochures are cross linked between these two I expect there will be a considerable number of wagons for one brand being bought by users of the other.

having made this last comment, i figured i would check just how many sets there are ...
43879 Touristzug Coach set - 5 coaches
44821 Jim Knopf Wagon Set - 3 wagons
45175 175 Years Wurttemburg Railroading - 5 wagons
46394 Wagonset for T3 Loco - 3 wagons
24148 Wagonset for T3 Loco - 3 wagons
46017 Era II Wagonset for Br95 - 6 wagons
00727 Display with 12 different Tankcars
46395 Coach set for Br75 - 3 coaches
24128 Wagonset for Br80 - 4 wagons
24134 tank wagon for Br80 - 1 wagon
24135 Acid Transport Car for Br80 - 1 wagon
24175 Coal Bunker wagonset for Br94 - 2 wagons
24177 coal bunker wagonset for Br94 - 2 wagons
43147 Coach set for Br95 - 2 coaches
42388 SBB Old timer Coach Set for Be4/6 - 4 coaches
43651 SBB Coach set for Re460 - 4 coaches
46333 Hopper car Set - 6 wagons
47225 Sliding Tarp car set - 3 wagons
42042 French Coach set - 4 coaches
47189 NS Wood Chip Gondola Set - 6 wagons - plus Trix 24367 3 wagon version with different road numbers
46875 Belgian Freight Car Set - 5 wagons
47160 Luxembourg Flat Car set - 3 wagons
42694 Danish Coach Set - 3 coaches
42695 Danish Coach Set - 2 coaches
43617 US Coach Set for Big Boy - 6 coaches
46050 Freight car Set for toy Fair Kofferli - 6 wagons
and that is not a complete list of just the HO multiple wagon sets (I got tired of accounting for sets with 2 wagons and didn't allow for any start sets).

So that is 27+ sets which accounts for 107+ individual items to make as they are all different. Then consider that items like the Trix 24175 and 24177 have loads that contain multiple pieces which are individually numbered as well ... it soon mounts up to a logistics nightmare for the production controller.

What shall be a desaster and why rubbish of this loco with its tin plate 4 coaches? For me it is a fine short complete train especially for small layouts for a reasonable price. What did you expect?

Well if you like pure fantasy loco and wagons you can buy them TEEWolf.
I would never buy them.

Pure fantasy? Do you think Maerklin is a liar? In their catalogue on page 110 they show a picture of an existing real model with the following text:

"Prototype: Da series electric locomotive. Museum locomotive of the Bergslageras Järnvägssällskap (BJ), Gothenburg. Locomotive road number Da 896, operating condition in current museum version."

I do almost have no knowledge of the Swedish rail, so I trust Maerklin's text. But in this forum people name it rubbish, whatever. Why shall I am believe you too? But it looks like it is a real existing loco and nobody can tell me what is false with this loco, except that some people do not like it. That is normal. And I tell you, in this new catalogue are many other locos I do not like. But I do not think it is a desaster, etc.

If I buy it or not, is still a complete other topic.

Marklin prices are now on the Lokshop website, most with a 10% rebate.

Speaking of fantasy locos, I quite like the MHI 36292 Vectron diesel painted in retro V200 colours complete with the V shaped bib in front.

I also like the replica 30380 SNCF BB loco with blue box, and since I like blue box items and don't have one of these locos this is one for me. The picture of the matching tinplate coaches in the neuheitin pdf do not do them justice, the shots of them in Marklin TV ep102 are much better.

Is it my impression or it is getting everything much more expensive? RAm TEE almost 900 euro vs 500 the Roco one, locomotives pretty much starting from 450-500... I mean... I'm seriously considering not buying anything this year also because the quality is not increasing at all. The last V200 I bought was underpowered compared to previous models, including PIKO one; I recently got the BR101 in Märklin livery and while testing at dealer shop before purchasing it kept derailing and he had to send it back for repair...
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :)

Prices are growing in the last few years and too high (for me).
I don't think quality is decreasing, and Märklin steam locomotives are very very good (in my opinion).
Models like the RAm, Class 66 and BR78 seem to be top and with an interesting discount in the dealer it will be ok. RAm will very very hard to find with discount...
The ICE 4 is not metal and it is not 1:87, but 1:93,5 aproximately. It will probably be a good model. You can find it at an acceptable price, considering it is a 5 piece set with controlable pantographs.
The new Swiss old time locomotives are great items but too expensive for I want them, at least for now.

Best regards,
Miguel

Marklin is saving me a lot of money in 2020. One item only for SBB era V, ROLA wagons, and I've already got plenty of them.

The new 66 is really interesting but it will be too much for my budget.

I agree about that 4014 Big Boy and the UP coach set David, but I will be interested to see the costs of both of those items before I make any decisions.

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.
