We can expect the New Items information to start to come out in around a month's time. The normal window is the third week of January through mid-February.

There are so many carryovers from previous announcements that I don’t think that there need be any 2020 new items!Flapper

From a marketing prospective (or at least my own in the context of my job), I think the smarter move is dropping major announcements (like the 241 steamer and the tee set) away from a show. This enables you to dominate the news cycle, and be the center of attention vs a voice in the crowd at Nuremberg.

I suspect marklin is learning this, and the “regular” new items catalogue will be less new tooling, more repaints and rolling stock.

I look forward regardless!

A new digital book will be released soon as new 2020.
You can either download a pdf file or buy a book.

This is what i believe about news:
Diesel V 100 with cab lighting and the new digital couple.
New work tool V 60 with the cab lighting and new digital couple.

Steam locomotive with cab lighting and service light (standard?).

Electric locomotive E 91 with functional pantograph.

I don't need M produce any new toolongs soon by imaginable reasons :)

Despite that I would like they have the new toolings in the future:
Germany:
BR18.2
BR03.10 streamlined
DH500
BR 81 DB
USA:
J Class
Daylight GS2 (Southern Pacific)
F7

Old tooling (I think a new tooling is not needed for have sound for these ones):
E18 Ep. III or BR 118 Ep. IV in blue with sound, cab light and if possible digitally operated pantographs.
Weathered RE6/6 with cab light and working pantographs

I also would like Märklin to do something relative to the out of scale coaches. The best is to have the 3 "scales" 1:100, 1:93,5 and 1:87.
Also painting them would make them look better.

At this point in time probably all the 2020 new items are all already decided.

Regards,
Miguel

That will be for definite. The brochures will need to be at the printer now - in all languages - to have them ready by the time the announcements come out.

In practice the 2020 items for the full year will have been set in stone several months ago so that the purchasing department can order raw materials for the 2020 production, and allow production planning to work out their timetable.

And I say the full years range will be settled by now as when you look at any previous year there are still items from the Nurnberg announcements that are not available until after Summer and Autumn New Items are available, such as the Kofferli and its wagon set.

They just stage the announcements to make a market impact (as has already been suggested).

Hi Miguel,
I like your thinking.

However, I see that the BR 18.2 (the Baden IV) is already done quite well.
What do you see needs updating?

The N&W class J is done by many manufacturers.
Rivarossi catalogued the J back in mid-80s, but never produced it.

Hi Kimball,

The BR18.2 is the DR model Roco produces usually in green. I prefer it the way Märklin produces steamers.
The Baden IV is BR 18.3.

About the J, yes, several manufacturers produce it, but I think only in 2 rails version. Although I like 2 rails too, I don't have 2 rails locomotives for compatibility reasons. Maybe I will one day in order to have one or other model I like that doesn't exist in 3 rails version.

Miguel

I don´t hink so because of the pick up shoes.

I´d wanted Märklin to expand the K track program. I miss the R3 equivalent curve and slim curved turnouts. The turnout motors are to weak and unrelaible for permanent mounting and they should go back to the older construction. According to my dealer he jokingly said that the difference between the older and the newer turnout motors are that the older works.

I really like K track and have sold all my C track but the ones included in my 29848 starter set.

I have big hopes for a Swedish X2000 in metal but I think itś unlikely. The Swedish RC locos with a red rear rear light would be awesome in full scale length.

Do you mean to say Märklin is up to its old tricks and produces models for collectors only. hence we don't need such an electrical double switch turnout., I think somehow the word "innovation" had been buried for some time but slowly its creeping back

About C track, a good addition would be flexible track as well as concrete ties (crossties/sleepers) track.
Not very important for me, but for the ones that are into Ep. VI and with the ICE 4 wood ties track doesn't fit so nice as concrete. Maybe just the flex track in both versions for the start. Later, if there is success with the concrete flex, also the straights and wide radius turnouts could follow.

Regarding C track, I believe the concrete sleeper variation is possibly the most economic variation on the existing range.
I do not have marketing data to support this assumption.

Fleischmann produced a 2-4-0 Class 70 tank engine back in the 1950s/60s.
There is one of these still running in Bavaria at a museum railway, so it would be easy to measure and create the drawings for manufacture.
I personally like small tank engines.
I can imagine it might be a useful addition to the Märklin line-up.

Here is a picture of the Class 70 (on the left) at DFS (DAMPFBAHN FRÄNKISCHE SCHWEIZ E.V.). (with acknowledgment to DFS)
Perhaps Märklin could use it as one of the Museum series of model locomotives.

Well it is a really nice "Museumsbahn" this "Wiesenttalbahn".

See a short video from the line beside the Wiesent (= river, which named the valley and the train line)

https://www.dampfbahn.net/strecke/

A few pictures

https://www.google.de/se...AQ_AUoAnoECA4QBA#imgrc=_

This "Museumsbahn" is not far away from Nuernberg with its DB rail museum.

Just take the S-Bahn to Forchheim.

https://en.wikipedia.org...%E2%80%93Bamberg_railway

Switch train in Forchheim to Ebermannstadt. In Ebermannstadt starts this "Wiesenttalbahn"

I would like some nice US style news.

Diesel: EMD F7 or Gp7/Gp9 in Santa Fe blue/yellow
standard freight colors. Not blue/yellow warbonnet.

Freight cars: Some nice colorful boxcars of the now
existing 40 foot boxcar. Or a new tool 50 foot boxcar.

And the cars must be max in 2 or 3-pack.
Absolutely not in big expensive 10-pack !
And NO MORE Coca-Cola fantasy trains.
Sweden & USA

Any news on a date of the Marklin / Roco / Brawa / Esu 2020 new items yet?

There must be something coming?

A revised Br E 04 from Marklin, or an upgraded Br E 16 with sound from Roco, another Marklin Vt 11.5 because I somehow missed out on all previous ones or an ESU Br 140. Drool Drool

It’s awfully quiet this year. Also on the Stummi and DSO Forums.

It is not Märklin who publish news earlier.
It does the dealer who got information.
Märklin present news about a week before Nurnberg messe start.

As far as I was told today the big news of this year may be the BR78 with completely new tooling.
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :)

That would be great. All the old DCM toolings should be upgraded with smoother, quieter, and less obtrusive can motors. Hopefully we will soon see new tooling Br85 and 86 too.
