I am thinking about utilising one of my Viessmann colour lights to act like the Marklin signals - i.e. provide a braking section before the light controlled by the light.

To do this I need some of the red insulators for the pukos. I can't find these on the Marklin web site.

Does anyone know the part code for "4 Insulator sleeves (red) for C track (1 sprue)" as supplied with the Marklin signals?

Wrong answer to the question, that's a bag with 8 insulators.

But probably that's the solution to the problem. I'm afraid you cannot get 4 insulators only as a spare part. And if you can it's probably more expensive anyway.
But maybe there is a spare part number to order just 4...

Tom

If you cannot find some in a hurry you can use thin plastic sleeving. I have used heat shrink tube before now.

C Track Insulators.jpg

The picture shows some (gently) shrunk and unshrunk HS sleeving on track pieces. Gently shrinking the sleeve makes it easier to mate the next track piece.

I like that. I have a good stock of shrink wrap so I will give it a go. Thanks for the idea

The heatshrink isn't a bad idea. The Marklin insulators to be honest are rubbish, they get pushed down into the opposing track piece by the by the 'sprongs' (for want of a better word) that Alan shows as being heatshrunk in his picture.

I have been cutting the inside sprong off (which is the centre pukos sprong) to make sure - I cringe every time I do it - there must be a better way!

I have experimented with putting a cut down insulator in behind the main one to stop it being pushed back. That seems to work OK, but means you use two insulators.
