hi All,

I have recently acquired a nice 3015 crocodile which has not run recently. It does not run at present as power causes buzzing and the lights to come on brightly with no movement. I assume a reverser or a brush problem. I rather quake at trying to dissemble this complex loco. Is there anyone in the UK that could service this for me or failing that have a photocopy of the schematics to give me a clue to opening the engine

Thanks in advance

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

welcome to the forum. Your description sounds like the loco is suffering from the "hardened oil syndrome". Märklin used an oil which becomes a gear-glue with the decades. I prefer a product sold as "SR24" to clean the loco, other people just use lighter gasoline to wash out the gears.

Some documents for the loco:

3015-ya-1063.pdf (649kb) downloaded 75 time(s).

3015-a-0174-ru.pdf (530kb) downloaded 56 time(s).

ba-3015-68315-tn-0265-ka.pdf (2,794kb) downloaded 51 time(s).

Regards

Markus

Hi Marcus, thanks for your reply. The links to further details are very helpful. on the underside of the loco is a black cover which when removed shows the underside of the armature. Also I can see both drive shafts which can be rotated and which turns the wheels. That makes "Hard Oil" less likely I believe.
regards

Geoff
