Hi Mehmet, I learned of your accident when I visited Brisbane last week. Sorry to here about this mate. Main thing is get better. When i originally saw your header, I assumed it was a computer glitch or something, so thought you would let us know when you were up and running. My computer skills are seriously lacking so thought best to leave you to sort it out. Silly me.
Some day we will have to pay you a visit.
Probably wont fly Qantas again but that's another story
All the best From NZ.

Hi dear friends, First of all I would like to thank your wonderful wishes for me. On Friday morning I had an operation which lasted 3,5 hours. Now I have gotten rid of iron fixators on leg. My doctor gave a small bag of iron material, which I will be using as goods in a gondola car . Until Tuesday I am not allowed to move a toe because some flesh was taken from my thigh for the holes of the fixators. One lovely thing I will not have another operation. But lots of exercises will go for the leg three or four weeks later. Once again I really appreciate your friendly messages Cheers, mehmet |

Mehmet,
Glad to hear the operation went well. Do your prescribed exercise when the time comes and you regain most if not all of your normal mobility. All the best!

Hi Walter and Philip, Today it is day 51. After the terrible incident. Day by day I am getting better. I believe every thing teaches us something very important. Yes! I missed a wonderful fleamarket in Rossdorf and another great Messe in Dortmund. I have been imprisoned to bed for almost three months. I have not had a single second without terrible pains. I have learnt to bear them as well. But I must admit that I have learnt one another great thing; I have a wonderful wife. During these hard days she has looked after me so well. Of course I knew this fact before this since she had never said anything negative about my fifty-five visits to Germany just for trains. Ohhh I have become like an old man talking too much...please forgive me Cheers, mehmet |

Hi Jacques and dear friends, With a 24 hour delay I have just been to the doc. He has found everything is fine. First I am going to start with some passive exercises for the ankle this coming Sunday with the physician therapist.Probably in two weeks’ time I will start full steps, meaning I will be able to be in Marklinistanbul Till then bye... |

Hello Mehmet,
Looking forward to lots of great Marklin postings soon. Always amazed at items that you have found that I have never seen before.
I had a similar ankle busting accident 37 years ago. You have me beat by 3 bolts. Extent of the rehab back then was "Here are some crutches. Good Luck". Doesn't bother me too much except a little on cold damp days and trying to climb steep mountain trails (foot/ankle just does not bend as much as it should). Toughest thing was braking the car for the first few weeks. Do I stop or cause myself pain?
You can leave the bolts in. Won't set off metal detectors. The airports goons may detect it with the magnetometer or whatever the hand-held device is. Do not offer an explanation. They will either figure it out when they see the scars or if they press just tell them it is a medical device.
Hopefully it won't be too bad a year from now.
Best of luck, Mike

Best of luck, Mike Hi Mike, So sorry about your ankle, but glad to hear that it is already in the past now. Actually I do not know if I have beaten you or not since I have not taken my x-ray from my doc yet. The x-ray belongs to Ake(Br502362)... Thank you for your sincere wishes as well... Cheers, mehmet |
