Thanks Panayotis! By bringing my attention to the truck (it is nice isn't it?), you have made me realise how awful the little tree looks! I think I'll replace it with something nicer.
Kimball - Piko makes some nice stuff, though the detail is a bit fiddly. I have already lost one of the windscreen wipers, and the one at the end you see in the picture also keeps falling out. I am going to have to glue it in before I lose this one as well!
...and yes, the Ludmilla is a bit of a brute! I think it's one of the biggest locos in my collection.

Ray:
I love the tree - it reminds me of the trees I had on my childhood layout back in the (shudder) '50's.
Truck is cool
Ludmilla - mmmmmmmmmmmm one day [:p]
and the VLB Desiro looks very flash.
Thankfully I'm not doing Era IV - V or I WOULD be broke....

Bigdaddy:
Yeah I know I could use the '01 but all mine a DB Era III and I fancied a nice Era II loco.
Nice price too so I am happy.
That and the ETAT will make a nice pair - promise that piccies will follow.

Hi Kimball,
Neither did I, stumbled across it by accident.
Has a 6080 decoder so an upgrade is on the cards at some stage but still runs beautifully.
Looking forward to comparing it with the 3318.

What you do is get someone to chop it down at Christams time.
It will only be a few weeks away, so it will be gone for a realistic reason. Everything has to be realistic, on a model train layout.
The other way is to decorate it every Christams. But getting scale 1:87 tree lights may be a problem. Maybe Märklin are already working on these as new items 2009.
I think this post should be put in a new topic, as it will take on a life of its own.

Kimball

Finally my 103 has arrived at my dealer. I've been waiting a long while. I was surprised when I got there that the newly released SNCB Series 25.5 was also waiting. A great day but an expensive one.
Here they are.

Nice locos Jonny. The 103 is a beauty isn't it, and that Belgian electric is unusual, with it's single pantograph.
Tony, love the S 3/6 in brown. It would look great with the old Primex orient express coaches!

Hi Shannon, only now I've read your question.
The coupler is from the Dutch retailer Philotrain, made out of brass in 4 parts. You can let it hang (like mine) or just hang it in the hook. Brawa had these as well in their collection for some 10 years ago.
The brake hoses are Liliput.
Maerklin isn't trying too hard to improve on this to me rather important issue. A locomotive should have a 'snout', as we say in Holland.
These pathetic brake hoses of M* that end up in mid air... na. Just a shame!
My best engines get a better outfit. Well, you've seen taht is shows.
They make the cream on my coffee...
Frits
PS: My latest purchase ran in yesterday...
It took me a very pleasant hour or two, to get all parts fit, esp. the
Kolbenstangenschutzrohre
took a while.
I also removed the frontal NEM-pocket to give this lady a better look. All parts come with the model.

Great model locomotive Frits, and thanks for the picture.
Now imagine the real thing at about 100kmh.
That would be really awesome, standing at track level.

Hi! Frits
thanks for your reply.
i totally agree with you that Marklin never try to improve the coupler at all.
Does the manufacturer of this coulper you mentioned has the website?
your new runner is as great as your awesome web.

Wow, beautiful Nev, congrats!
Came to think of it, whenever this topic pops-up I promise myself to do an inventory ... couldn't get around it yet. Maybe this weekend. I think I'm up to 60+ locos now ... but re-organizing my collection and layout so I'm selling some ... and guess what: end up buying even more [xx(]
Will this come to an end?

I am the first to admit Cameras and I do not get along very well. Holy water does help me but not the camera. as a Photographer I would make a good butcher.

Well, I strayed from the fold once again. I just received my second Roco Loco. I just couldn't resist this one since it is so beautiful, and represents my favorite city.

Finally found a 3071 at a decent price. Condition is almost new!

Not sure yet whether it will go int he display case or whether I will convert it to run on my layout.

Ron - Are these hard to find? I found one at a local hobby shop with Delta.

They show up frequently at swap meets, but at too high a price. This one is like new and is in the original analog. Hardly been run, no blemishes on the surface. Much better than some I have seen at meets offered at a much higher price.
