Picked up my Insider VT10.5 "Senator" today at Mike's. It is really a beauty. Runs smooth and powerful, too. Can't wait to get the expansion cars for it!

Very good Ron, great pictures. Clapcott brought his Senator along to clubnight a couple of months ago. Like you say a nice runner, and sounds good too. Not something for me though, but I can see why others would like it. Did you work out the weird pieces of packaging?

I know they are available in Europe, but we are at the bottom of the food chain here. The dealers in North America are the last to receive stocks. Since I have them on order, I will wait.

Ron - I was curious if the Senator came with passengers in the coaches? I doubt it came that way, but them I am not sure since this was the first year in some time I did not order the Insider model. I would be surprised if Maerklin put figures inside the set but then I am uncertain.

Hi all.
I bought another FS model from Roco: 69110 TEE "Mediolanum". It is a very good model to me, even if it's made of plastic and it has no sound... [xx(]

Thank you all.
Ray, it runs very well, smooth and silent. It is not a climber but I tried slopes up to 4% without problems... with 4.5% or more with curves you have troubles but this is an extreme situation I think! I am very satisfied!!!
The only problem is its lenght: it runs well in R1 curves, but it risks to hit obstacles with buffers. In
this review
we made:(sorry it is in Italian but you can see pictures
) you see it exiting a gallery (4th picture)... we needed to file a little bit the gallery and now there are no problems!

The C class 4-6-2 with the Olympic rings is Märklin 37112 - DAMPFLOK BR18 OLYMPIA, produced in 1996.
Nathan's Trains in Brisbane (my local dealer in Australia) has a brand new one for sale.
On page 15 of this topic, Ray Payas has a picture of his model.

Hi Everyone
From Steventrain
Code:
Well done, Tony. Do you have a picture?
Heres some pictures of my new BR96, BR78 and others I have.
Do all steamers with sound, sound the same or is the sound prototypical for each engine?
I really like the BR96, runs well.

The BR78 is a great loco - I have the older 3307 version in K.St.W.E. livery. Incredible bargain as it was labelled "Sold as seen, £30" and turned out to be in perfect working order with a 6090 upgrade kit fitted!

Nice collection, Tony
My latest scores include:
29840 BR 85 (and passenger consist)
3083 BR210 with 6080 decoder
Plus a Piko BR 64 (2 rail) for display. Why? Because it was cheap and I fancied it....

Just bought a 3029 for £5 on ebay. Needs the chimney re-attaching but the part is included, so I'll probably use a bit of brass wire to strengthen the joint.

Is the chimney on 3029 hollow? I've seen some photos suggesting that it is, and it'll make the repair much easier as I can just use a bit of wire of the right diameter.

3029 is here, the chimney was missing so I've made a new one from the tip of a ballpoint pen. A bit taller than the original but I think it looks pretty good:
I need to give the new chimney another coat of paint as the blue plastic is still showing through in places, but I think it looks pretty good for a few minutes work. The loco is happily whirring around with that lovely smell of warm electrics.

Hi Tony (Narracoorte),
Nice sets of era II locos, and cars.
thanks for sharing.
Hi Tony (NZ).
Beautiful ETAT loco - I did not know that Marklin did that one.
I think French locos are beautiful.
Sir Nigel Gresley (UK) was once asked about André Chapelon's work in France (both were celebrated steam engine designers), and Nigel said "oh, very nice, they were designed by a watchmaker, and they run like a watch!"
regards
Kimball

Nice additions, Tony!
I have 2 new items, a PIKO Desiro railcar set which I got on my trip to UK last week, and the 36421 "Ludmilla" which arrived today.
Pictures to follow when I have a chance to get my camera out.

As promised, the VLB Desiro from PIKO:
and the DR Ludmilla:
No lights on the Ludmilla because I seemed to have locked out the decoder when trying to re-programme it. On advice from a couple of members, I will leave it off the track for 24 hours and see if it resets itself.

Hi Matt,
You did a very creditable job on the chimney.
On real steam engines, the chimney shape and size can make a huge difference to the look of a locomotive.
Hi Ray,
Nice Piko set - they do some nice variations on models, don't they. I managed to get some era III rolling stock from Piko.
The Ludmilla on the other hand looks a bit of a brute.
regards
Kimball
