I'm still not sure whether to pre-order the Br42. I think I'll wait and see what else comes out in the full official new items brochure. |

No, not yet. I also wanted a Br56 but that seems to have slipped the net too! Honestly I'm having trouble justifying more locos for my collection. I now have 155, soon to be 156, and I'm struggling with storage space. 
I never thought I'd say this, but I know what you mean Ray. Moving to a small New York Apartment has done the same to me! I ended up selling all of my starter sets and other things that took up unnecessary storage space. (and sadly, a few themes on my collection such as all the US models, my european N scale etc...)
Anyhow, one tip I've learned- there is always room to hide more!!    |

The SNCB start set looks nice, although it is hobby range and not really that accurate. Its a nice looking set and it gives you a modern comuter set for Belgium, unless you want to spend alot of money on scale length very limited run models by other makes? And with the added worry for me, of not going over K track without issue😳 This one set will be a must for me, unless theres something else i find when the full items come out. Here is Modellbahn Kramms price. It does not say if it has sound or not.   |

They also tend to have less fine detail, various details that are seperately applied parts on the higher end models are molded on, e.g. pipes on steam locos, and so on.

Well, that has had me browsing all the NI brochures when I should have been doing something else - might get some time over the next few days if the promised snow eventuates to browse further ... I had promised myself i wouldn't spend anything like what I spent last year, but I can see some 'must have' items starting with the Glass Train, to keep the situation of having a full set  and some 'would be nice' ones as well The LAG/ET 194 set from marklin last year appears in the Trix range this year. There are some nice looking items in the LGB range ... NO DON'T GO DOWN THAT ROUTE ...  G1 folk really are spoiled for V188/288/D311 models ... Bit disappointed in the Insider Club wagon this year, doesn't seem to have anything to make it 'special'

Wow- excellent catalogue! The tinplate reingold set for me is irresistible. In terms of the Swiss models, I think they did an excellent job of infusing life into old toolings. Lots of new freight cars for me! No locomotives though, my earlier versions of the same suit me fine. But my favorite two things in the catalogue: the Pennsylvania PA-1's and the "Congressional" Aluminum cars! I was never a fan of the silver GG1, but those cars with a tuscan red GG1 are an all time favorite train! Must resist though- I sold all my US models some time ago... They have the CS3 book in both German and English - which has to be an improvement. Just made up a wish list and came to well over 1000 Euro ...  must cut that back (but it did include museum models). No one has any prices up yet apart from the initial items that were announced a few days ago - I don't know why they bother doing that so soon before the general announcement.

Very happy to see that my request for a Ralpin Begleitwagen was approved. This will allow me to complete my 47416/47417 ROLA consist with my BLS 485/486s.
I will have to see whether I can get some of the Zans type tank cars. I could use a few more Wascosa ones to complete a consist.
I had asked for additional cars to supplement the classic Weiacher Kies car set, but these new ones should make for a nice addition too.
The new Re 460 is interesting too. I need a second Re 460 without the "2000" on the front.
The SBB Cargo containers are interesting. I would have preferred to have some additional AAE or Hupac cars rather than SBB Cargo though.
I would rather swap out the SBB Cargo ones with the 47070 Crossrail cars and use AAE ones there.

I like container cars, so the DB Schenker, SBB Cargo and Maersk container cars all appeal. Whether I get all of these items plus a CS3+ to go with the book is another matter....... Interested in the puzzle buildings, although I am wondering about the level of detail achieved with them. I like this mix of new items, I like that there are some smaller engines which are more affordable for myself.

Matthew I am intrigued with those too. They look like they could be useful, but I suspect they are low detail and rugged for handling by small hands that aren't necessarily gentle, as the way the catalogue reads these are to go with the 'My World' or 'Start Up' ranges.

Nice selection in this brochure. I read in another post a while ago that Marklin was going to make new large starter sets available. I would like to see something similar to the previous Digital Mega Starter Sets in particular 29548 click here (large oval with passing track and a siding, Central Station, two steam locos, one passenger car set and freight car set).
