I thought we were not allowed to deal with 2017 items until received - under penalty of death. Scared

Am I missing something? Confused

I see no headlights above those buffers, could it be the (for me) long awaited BR42? (kriegslok)

br42

If so, an era 2 version is ordered immediately...

From the CS3 v1.1 Changelog ...

Others
Lokicons
... Some prematurely released locomons were removed.

If you have a pre- v1.1 CS3 you might scan for easter eggs ...

Peter, I think you might have this in the wrong thread, but I'm not sure which CS3 thread you want it in...../BDNZ

I would have said this is the correct thread, after all it is about icons of items not yet released ... i.e. as in 2017 items ...

I assume a PKP version of the BR42 is wishful thinking...

You are probably right, but!!! I 'll go for 1 (one), maybe 2 (two)

I have a PKP diesel and cars, but nothing else.
I passed on several passenger cars by LS and acme, kept forgetting to order.

Anyway lets keep hoping Laugh

They have made Russian versions of German steamers, so a PKP version of a German steamer is not impossible.
The priority for a PKP will probably be rather low.

Class 42 faced early retirement with DB, DR, and ÖBB. I think this increases the likelihood of a PKP version as only few livery variations are possible for the DE/AT main market.

The news of Märklin are decoder in the Märklin three rail locomotive.
Now Märklin this time will present DCC protocol too by use with three rail tracks.
I´m pretty sure Märklin will not change the system of the K tracks.
Still same like in all years...
Maybe small tank loco will have smoke generator?
Not impossible.

Well, okay. Perhaps it is me, but I find these re-runs of other manufacturers models (which is btw. still available) unnecessary. I would much rather that they did not do that. But perhaps I am just an old fart...

It's a win/win situation: more profit for Märklin, more profit for Viessmann, more new items in Märklin's new items brochure.

Some true Märklin fäns would never buy rolling stock from Fleichmann, Viessmann, or Tillig. But they buy "Märklin" items made by other companies.

Usually these co-operations are no re-runs, but at least livery variations.

They offer items for sale and we choose what we buy. And they try new ways.
Regards
Tom

Hold on with the old fart. It appears to have a lot more tech on this model, than offered before? It appears to have a working crane , as in it has motors and MFX+ If so I would like one of these:-)

Dunno... but... Does it really make sense to release two identical locomotives (except for the road numbers), one with the full palette of sounds and the other without? Who in this day and age would want to settle for a new tooling locomotive without sounds?

I understand that this may be intended for those who will want to run their trains double-headed. However, wouldn't it be more fun to have two different series in tandem, say BR 42 and BR 44, each playing out their full sounds? I fail to see it.

Moreover, I've seen these versions without sounds show up during sales at reduced prices, one year or two after they were released. I assume that they do not really sell that well.

I think that it would totally have made more sense to have released both a DRG era II and a DB era III, each with full sounds.
Best regards,
Armando García

Other manufacturers do the same, producing sound and non-sound versions of the same loco. Brawa is an example that comes to mind.

I am actually looking at buying the non-sound version of the Br42. I've done this before with other new locos that give me the option. I get tired of hearing the chuff chuff sound on my locos and often run then silent anyway, so I can save myself 60 Euros or so by doing this.

You're right. It does indeed look like they have made some changes to the model. This would make it better than just a "re-run". I have seen both the BLS and the ÖBB as Viessmann new items. Can't remember where though, but they are on Google images.

Those without sounds are done for the 'shelf queen' market. I had this discussion with Dieter Lorenz from Marklin when the Insider Big Boy was first released, and he pointed out that they could add 10% to the loco run by having a Delta version of it for the 'shelf queen' market. I guess there will also be a segment that would by a loco without sound as a running item as well, but it will be a case of wait for them to come on cheap and get an ESU decoder with Br42 sounds and off you go.

Only 13010 euro for me as I don't have to pay VAT, but on that value I'd have to pay GST when they arrived! Scared

I know they are designed as play things for small children, but some of those, especially the last one, are 'plug ugly' !!!

No, not yet. I also wanted a Br56 but that seems to have slipped the net too!

Honestly I'm having trouble justifying more locos for my collection. I now have 155, soon to be 156, and I'm struggling with storage space.
