Looking to but a Trix HO 2259 BigBoy second hand. It has no manual and is supposed to be DCC Ready. What non sound decoder goes in it. Does it go in the tender? I found a manual from another BigBoy, it shows 2 screws holding the tender body on. A manual and info on a decoder would be helpful before buying.

Hi Jack. I have a 22594 Trix Big Boy and fitted it with a TCS decoder - probably a T1 version . The manual shows two screws on the boiler which have to be removed to fit the decoder which I am sure is in the boiler cavity. One screw is under the dome between the two sand boxes which I think just pulls off. The other is on the firebox under a circular plug which is pressed at one side to make the other side pop up to pull out. I think there is a standard 8-pin socket with plug for DC operation into which the DCC decoder can be fitted. If this is wrong then I will dig out my loco and check for you but I do not use it much after getting the Precision Craft version. Hope this helps. Regards, Colin
Looking at the exploded diagram from TEEwolf above the parts are ...
Dome 27 Firebox plug 28 Screws 26
The DCC socket is on part 110.
Colin.
