Hello, Everyone. On this cold Sunday afternoon in Toronto, I have been trying to put together a simple reverse look using M tracks and R0 curves (286 mm, the ones that M does not make in C track) as well as straight M tracks. No luck. Could someone please tell me if there is a standard M track reverse loop configuration, showing all parts needed in the small size I mentioned? Thank you. |

No, those only came in 45 degree segments, not 30 degree like the 5100 curves. Most stock will not run on them anyway, so they are not much use for anything.

Thank you, Kiwialan for your superfast response. What about using straight C track, R1 radius, is there a standard set up I could follow to do a reverse loop? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. |

E.g., 24611 + 24172 + 24172 + 24188 + 24224 + 8*24130 + 24071 + 2*24130 - see posts 5 and 6 in this thread: https://www.marklin-user...pieces-please#post386441 |

Using M-track, the turnout could be any of 5117 (L or R), 5118 or 5119, straights 3 x 5106, curves 11 x 5100.
(Sorry battling to post a pic)

It's free and the developer is a member of this forum. It's very easy to use for something like this.

Some C-Track reversing loops, you may have to download them to make out the part numbers. |

An M-track double overlapping reverse loop, obviously simple to modify for either a single left or right loop. The four points on the circle can all be sprung and never need changing, just use the points at the two extremes to direct traffic into the reverse loop. I built this and it works really really well. |

THANK YOU! to all of you. I am a bit overwhelmed with all the feedback I got and will need a bit of time to digest it. Once I come up with the best solution for me, I will let you all know and show you in pictures what I come up with. |

Well, I digested all the great suggestions I received and came up with solution of my own. Following the model of a reverse loop, I adapted that plan to make two separate loops of sorts that do not reverse but still suit my purposes. I have now added one extra oval that has a herring bone, much like the one that Mike C. showed me at the exhibition last year at the Dutch senior citizens home. Thank you, Mike. Since I needed a size that was less than an R1 radius, owing to space limitations on the layout, and was concerned that the M tracks would be too small, I used the K tracks I recently dismantled. The result has been really good. On the new herring bone K track layout I can run almost anything I like, including my famous FS 424 loco pulling the three new illuminated coaches I got for Christmas from my wife (cat no. 43570). Interestingly enough, on the K tracks, the noise of the slider almost completely vanishes and it is a real pleasure to see the train go so smoothly on these K tracks. I have a pet project of creating an imaginary train from Toronto to Rome and each loop is intended for each one of the two cities. In the pictures below, the first picture shows the centre of the layout; in the second picture you can see the Colosseum surrounded by my FS 424 and the three 43570 coaches mentioned above; the last picture shows on the opposite end the Toronto station - I will get asap a CN Tower to put there. (The photo shows my parents, now gone. My father is the one who got me into this hobby about 50 years ago.) Overall, thanks to all your initial suggestions, my layout has greatly improved. Life is good. |
