This thread keeps coming up. I'm still slightly over 200 (217) after selling a lot of loks in the last couple years! Problem is there is so much good stuff out there to replace the ones I got rid of[xx(]

This new MFX thing is too much, and I find myself constantly upgrading.[:I] Luckily I'm no longer limited by the addresses available.Cool

This week has been a virtual bonanza for new F7's. The collection grew considerably with the arrival of a MILW F7 AB (37623), a D&RGW F7 AA (3062+4062), and two ATSF B-unit dummies (4063). The latter two B-units have expanded my ATSF F7 consist to an ABBBA configuration - and it looks awesome [:p][:p][:p]

Together with some other recent arrivals the total is now 65 [^]

Marklin loco count is currently four. In order of arrival, I have a 3042, 3141, 3323 and the most recent arrival is a French market only model of the DHG 700 in SNCF Fret livery (bought as part of a set).

With 2 on the way it makes 29. New acquisitions:

3104 - DB 89066 - Marklin's cheap little steamer modelled on the Ex Prussian T8. Saw it in "as new" condition and couldn't resist it. My son beat me to it and is giving it to me for Xmas.Smile I have earmarked a leftover delta decoder for it.

SBB Re 4/4 II in green from the start set (similar to 37341). The very low price it was being offered at made it irresistable.

A nice lok! My first Märklin-lok was a 3104, it still is in pretty good shape and has been retrofitted with a Delta decoder. It can drive very fast, mine topples over in industrial curves at full speed [:0] Be aware that retrofitting the lok with a decoder decreases the quality of ground contact because ground is transmitted mainly through the front axle. I solved the problem by adding a bit of LGB conductive paste.

Good Lord! How could Marklin get into financial difficulties after selling all the locs listed under this thread?

I just started this year - so far:

PA-1 (NYC - my first - from 29576)
VT 08.5 (Insider 39080 - LOVE IT!)
Big Boy - 37991 (WOW!)
E10.3 - 39120
P-8 - 37031
BR 290 - 37901

As you can see from the mix - I buy them because I like them, without regard to theme. Perhaps it's an extension of the American "melting pot" syndrome.

As I have been inserting my loks in the CS, I am counting them: I have 34 loks (things like a BR 602 or a VT08.5 are only counted as one), of which 5 may not be considered operational, due to them being in varying degrees of conversion work.

I also have a few more chassis and resin bodies laying around waiting to be turned into something meaningful.

The brand breakdown is:

4 Brawa;
1 Kato (undergoing conversion);
2 Roco (one is undergoing conversion);
2 Lima (one is undergoing conversion);
23 Märklin (two are undergoing conversion).

Hi all,
I have 23 Loks, 2 are digital but I only
operate on an analog system. My collection was
begun in 1964 when I was 11 and I have not converted
to the digital system. I recently had to take my
3rd layout in my current home down because we will
be moving next year. By the way, the Maerklin 2D/3D
layout planning software is great if you have some
german knowledge. I have already planned 21 possible
layouts but of course I do not yet know the dimensions
of my new train room.
Happy Holidays to All!

I only have three right now, all simple starter set Delta trains (V100,BR74,& BR86) but am looking to add ONE nicer train by next Christmas - a SMALL steam loc with a tender that "looks like" it "could be" a US train from late 1800s to 1940 and maybe has smoke and sound.

Very nice, Palle.

By the way, in our count of locomotives, does a double locomotive, like the 3346 DB 236 405+406, where both units actually are a separate loco with motor, count as one or two locomotives?

Svein: Of course a double-header is 2 locos, a triple-header 3, and so on ...
Forget about M's model #s. Since each consist has it's origin from solo engines (also in real life) Smile

My wife says that this is cheating [V]

I have to stick to the M's model numbers, unless it's separate locomotives with different digital addresses. [:I]

If my 37606 and my 37284 count for 2 locos each,then i have 22 locos.
(I have a DC one,my first).

P.s.The rotary crane counts as a loco?
