It is Insider 39013 two years ago, 25 Euro each go to 01 150 fund. Google translation. 01,150 will again steam! Financing finally secured: Steam engine 01,150 becomes off immediately in the steam locomotive work Meiningen regenerated ready for operation (Berlin, 28 October 2010) for the processing of the historical steam engine 01,150 the signals stand finally on trip. After last according to tax law questions could be clarified, the steam locomotive work Meiningen got the order now to regenerate the locomotive again ready for operation. All involved ones agreed on a restoration and an operating concept. The locomotive receives a main investigation for the next eight years. To owe this is the untiring donation collection of Olaf Teubert, a former engine driver of the 01,150, as well as the donors of the foundation German railway. The company Märklin takes part to substantial extent and becomes a model of the locomotive manufactures. In addition a substantial financial participation of the German course AG comes. The transfer of the donation funds is completed over the foundation of the savings since bank Nuremberg. The locomotive will in the future in railways the museum resounds/Saale to be resident and from there the resident association „tradition community German Federal Armed Forces resounds to P registered association “to be operated. The association made itself in the past years with the enterprise of the likewise char-fired steam engine 03 1010 a name. The steam locomotive work Meiningen will immediately ready for operation regenerate the locomotive. The first trips with the locomotive are planned for the autumn 2011. The locomotive will be used country widely in historical railway traffic. Edited by user 04 November 2010 21:39:05(UTC)

Thanks for the update Maikel. I've noticed something like a smoke generator somewhere in the middle side of the locomotive. What is it exactly? |

I like to see whether they'd also push for at least one new tooling BR44/50/52 for the mass market - now that they decided they should have a more modern design decapods. Trix H0 would desperately need such model, considering the current model BR44 was labelled as a "piece of crap; old, not detailed enough , and noisy" in one DC forum that I visited. That consensus in the DC market is that such model seem typically Trix. |

From the images posted so far, it looks like Marklin is going in the right direction. This new locomotive seems to be a serious departure from what Marklin has produced in the past few years. I am already excited about this new loco and will put an order for one as soon as the forms are in. Depending how it performs, I might even get two. The price is quite steep, if the 429 euro price proves to be true.. Regarding the BR44/50/52, it would be nice to see new tooling, similar to this new one. Marklin might even have some surprises for us later in the year, who knows... I honestly prefer quality instead of quantity. |

At the very least, the BR50 should be a good start... the underframe should be the same, the cab is usually made of plastic anyways. It was not long ago before the outsider club, which made up 99% of customers were well served with new tooling steamers almost every year; BR01(2006), BR18.3, BR64(2008), and BR23(2009). I still think that their main problem is with Trix; as we've discussed recently, Marklin 3-rail growth potential is smaller as opposed to if they further develop their 2-rail lineup (Trix/Marklin 2-rail). It's really up to them how they want to promote their brands at the end of the day. We might be ok to wait till 2012, but customers in the DC market won't. But we'll see how it goes.. |

The pictures of the BR 50.40 show a Roco model with Weinert parts - a so-called "handmade sample". It sure looks good, but don't hang your heart on small details. I'd be surprised if wheels and steering of the final model would look exactly like those of the prototype. |

I guess they don't want to have a plain-vanilla BR 50 to compete with the BR 50.40 in the same year - besides the fact that it requires a lot changes. Here's a report about a BR 50 being converted to a BR 50.40 (N scale): http://www.n-dampf.de/5040.htm Thanks for the link! Offer a good perspective on the difference between the two models.. It'd still be a cost effective option to build BOTH models at the cost of just one-and-a-half of new tooling - same underframe, two different upper frame (boiler, cab, etc). I don't think vanilla BR50 will compete with the BR50.40 Insider. Those who are members of Insider Club (I imagined they have to like steamers a lot too!) will likely bought both models. There'd be less demand from the "outsiders" to buy the Insider model through eBay, if that is considered competition. Then there'd still be quite a lot outsider club members who'd buy both models anyway still... And there be new demand from outsider for vanilla BR50. or better yet, maybe a new BR52 - since the tooling of this model is more outdated than the current BR50. But we'll see when the full list appears... |

Yep, the 4MFOR is being discontinued. Let's hope M will concentrate on bringing us some exciting models in the new year. Especially now that the Bellingrodt series is over, it will be quite a challenge for them to come out with something at least of the same magnitude. |

Maikel (RMW) Maerklin 26561: Again, nothing new under the sun with this set, merely a rearrangement of individual products released in earlier years. The NS electric loco has been issued several times before, albeit with different roadnumbers, the DB style coaches in NS colours were issued earlier in a set of 3 pieces. So,to me this is again like selling old wine in new bottles..... Interesting to note about the real life version of the DB coaches is that the roofs are usually buckled and dented over the full length,as if damaged by a severe hailstorm, nothing like the smoothly finised roofs of the model coaches! |

The 042 is the oil fired Br41. I wonder if this is a new tooling with correct boiler and a motor in the boiler instead of the cab.
We get the Lollo once again. Plastic or metal?

Not really sure how accurate this list would likely be...
if the new Lollo is metal, I think it'll use the lower frame of BR218.
37791 sounds like a natural development from the new TGV tooling.
the BR 042 sounds like a very good idea, I'd likely get the no sound version.
OTOH there is no 39xxx on the list - sounds like another nail in the coffin. |

I wouldn't read too much into this yet. There aren't any 36xxx either. It is a very short list, and I expect we'll hear about some more items soon. |

After last year's Insider model 03.10 was announced, experts said the same boiler could be used for a BR 042. New boiler? New frame? We'll see ... I think a 42 using the 03.10 boiler is very likely, as it enables marklin to provide a different model without having to invest in any new tooling. The tender already exists, the chassis exists, and the boiler exists. Nice cheap to produce new loco, exactly what they need right now. Cheers.... Mike.

AFAIK isn't the Marklin Taurus use the underframe dimension of BR152? IMO such compromise is fine... as the length difference in 1/87 scale is only 0.45cm. 18.9cm vs 18.4cm - around 2.44% longer in length. |

Lollo and BR 218 don't have much in common: they need a new cover and a new Diesel tank, so I presume that changing the length of the invisible frame won't be much extra work. We'll know in about three weeks time. With BR 152/182 the difference is 30 cm or 1.57 % - and they received a lot of bashing for that. With Lollo ist 40 cm or 2.5 %. |

I've never been in either a TGV or a Thalys but I heard the interiors are different. I'm afraid M* won't modify the interior, but I'll get it anyway. It'll be interesting to compare the prices of 37791 and 37790. I will get the Thalys as well.. Red vs blue and silver.. You 're right.. The interior is indeed different.. OTOH there is no 39xxx on the list - sounds like another nail in the coffin. An economic decision, same locos for trix and märklin, as for the BR 02 1001. |

Maikel (RMW) I fear that these new items will again be made all of plastic... which means that, alas, the downward mediocrity trend continues.... |

Cheers.... Mike. Unfortunately, it will be sold to us in Big $$$$ Bucks all the same, despite the recycling of parts. |

Over the years most of Marklin's railcars have been made of plastic, so I don't think this shows a downward trend. These railcars are essentially coaches with motors, so it makes sense to use the same materials normally used for coaches, and that has been plastic since the seventies (except for a couple of notable exceptions!). |

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.
