When in the controllable functions descriptions of locomotives the phrase "Switching range (only ABV)" appears what does ABV mean or refer to?

"Automatische BremsVersögerung" I think. Automatic brake delay; that is, smoth acceleration and decelleration.

I agree,meaning according to Märklin:

ABV: Veränderbare Anfahr/BremsVerzögerung.,which means in English adjustable
Acceleration/Braking delay.

Kind regards

Normally function f4 is to shut off the delay, to have a direct control of the locomotive during shunting.

Some locomotives also have a speed range reduction function connected to this. I think "Switching range (only ABV)" means that there are no change in the speed range, only the delay is shut off.

Hello Smile

ABV = "Anfahr und Brems Verzögerung" = Acceleration and braking delay switched off i.e the loco reacts emediately to your speed change Cool

"Ranger gang" is what ESU among other's call what Svein talked about i.e. you have all speed steps but the top speed is reduced by 50% or so and then it is called switching speed Cool

I vote for "Anfahr- und Bremsverzögerung".

I agree with the meaning "Anfahr- und Bremsverzögerung".
