Just received my Marklin 29533 starter set ( B 86 serie loco )
The 1st thing I did was to decrease the maximum speed to 16 % ( for switching )
I noticed in the loco manual that there is an ABV option Low speed switching range but my loco doesn't seems to have it. I think it has a turtle icon,
Should I change the decoder in order to have that ABV option ?
And back to the original question: What does ABV means ?
P.S. While in Belgium circa 1960, I wanted to learn German as the 2nd language but my parents forced me to learn Dutch ( Flamish ) instead. that's the reason why I don't know what ABV means Smile

Hi

As far as I can understand, ABV means "Anfarh- und Bremse Verzügerung", which means the acceleration and braking delay.

I have a Br86 from the 29530 starter set. Mine has not reduced speed at f4, only the "graph" icon, to disable the acceleration and braking delay.

f0 = front and rear light with directional cahnge
f2 = telex
f4 = cancel acceleration and braking delay

So, if you want the reduced speed at f4 as well, you have to replace the decoder.
Best regards Svein, Norway

Richtig (except spelling). Anfahr- und Bremsverzögerung is my try. Nevertheless, it means that the acceleration delay is put off, which could be usable (but not very realistic) when shunting. The loco reacts instantly to speed changes when activated.
