Hi,
Here is a rather odd sk800, it seems a mixture of old and new. Still very nice but what do others think?

Do the smaller "SK800" and "Märklin" signs indicate that it is from 1947, or even newer?

As far as I know, the oldest ones had much bigger text on the sides.

It has a slider pickup which denotes a later model or a hange by a restorer

Hi Geoff,

I'am sure it is a repaint. The condition of the chassis does not match the condition of the body.

But there are spare-part-version from the 1950s which look very similar. ZINKPEST is not a problem of the recent years. Very many green pre-war (1939-1942) SKs cracked up short after WWII. These engines where replaced by green post-war engines when sent in for repair to the factory.

Regards

Markus
