I recently aquired a Marklin TT800 and a SK800 without it's tender. I don't know much about trains. I was thinking of selling them on ebay. How much of a hit could I expect to take since the SK800 has no tender? What is the history of the the TT800 and how much could I expect for it? I could find none on ebay and no information about it on the web. Also, do these need a track with a center rail to run? Is there a way I can test them without a having a track or with just a two rail track? As I said, I don't know much about trains. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi,

More information on the SK 800 (including this overview Steven posted) can be found in this topic:
https://www.marklin-user...ault.aspx?g=posts&t=2978

As you can see, prices vary enormously. You could try selling them on eBay, anyway, it's a mather of luck to find more than one bidder competing with each other raising the price.
Testing these loco's is not possible with a two rail track. You'll need a three rail track and AC current.
Good luck with it!

Hello,

sorry I have to warn you about the prices mentioned above. I am a collector, so I know. Prices mentioned here are for absolutely mint in box items with even the box in perfect condition and with everything in order, technically and optically. Plus documentation...

What I am saying is that you will not get anywhere these fantasy prices without the tender. There are not as many collectors of vintage Märklin as one might think there are.

These people would also like to see the item when buying. Therefore prices on Ebay are about half of what can be fetched at exhibition auctions, unless of course some stupid guy bids along, which is considered a lucky thing.

I hope this was some help. Sorry about not being more enthusiastic.

Many regards,

Hans
I like M-track and my things that run on it were built between 1959 and 1972.
