Rhätische Bahn, Switzerland, day 4

Updated 28.04.2013

In October 2006 my wife and I were invited by some good friends in Switzerland.  We had some interesting train trips, over four days.
Here are some of our impressions from the trips.

Day 1
Winterthur - Guarda

Day 2
Guarda - Scuol-Tarasp - Guarda

Day 3
Guarda - Samedan - Poschiavo - Pontresina - Guarda, with the Bernina Express

Day 4
Return from Guarda to Winterthur

When our trip to this very nice part of Switzerlad we had to return.  By the way, there are many nice places in Switzerland.

The post bus was soon ready for departure.

Guarda seen from the road down to the station

There were still frost on the ground in the shadow

Rather early in the morning

Under every window there are maps of the line net of Rhätische Bahn

The station is probably Lavin, referring to the time table and the clock on the wall, 09:59.

Very many shades of green and brown colours

Some old coaches in Landquart

And some locomotives:Ge 4/4 III 648

SBB 4/4 II 11175

By some strange reason it was a Norwegian flag at the other side of the station

Our train to Zürich is arriving at the platform.  Re 460 115-9.

We have been reduced in numbers on the way.  Two left for their holiday house in Scuol, and two left for another railway trip.  Only four remaining; two to go home to Kanton Thurgau, my wife and me to go to Kloten airport to for our return flight to Norway.  This is from the top floor of one of SBB's nice coaches.  The cake in the box was brought all the way from Norway.  The security guys at the airport were a little bit surprised of the contents when we left Norway with the box as hand luggage.

This was a wonderful trip.  It is highly recommended to visit Switzerland and their fantastic railway network.
