Yesterday I posted a question in another topic about wiring tracks in order to make a shuttle train with CS and Viessmann 5217 s88 but since I feel like a dummy I open this new topic cause I'm lucking of basic kwnolege in wiring and I didn't want to continue to a topic that wasn't really relaited to my problem.

I connected the ground the mass exit of the S88 with the rail mass of the central station (0) that is something that I read many times in the forum.
My problem is were the wire from the port go? And the blue wire from 24994 ? Should I isolate some trucks ?
For example starting from one end I have 24088-24188-24994-24188-24188-24188-24995-24188-24188-24188-24188-24995-24188 and so on
In central I thing I know what to do
a)Have multi ownership enabled
b)Configure s88 module 16 ports
c)Configure shuttle train and then assign a lok to that

As you can see I need step by step instuction in wiring. If anyone has a picture or a diagramm it would be very helpfull

Thank you in advance for your help and again forgive me if my questions look stupid to you [:I]

Ria: I have made a shuttle train myself using the CS and VM 5217 for my Xmas layout, but that is put away. So let me suggest a couple of things.

1. You can independently check that you have working occupancy detection with the s88 bus. Can you, in fact, see that little boxes in s88 mode change when you run a wagon over the detection region.
2. Once you have two detection regions that work, you need to define a shuttle route with a start and end detection.
3. Then you start a train in the region and stop the CS, and switch it into the shuttle mode.

If you are not detecting the s88 signals, your shuttle train will surely not work. Make sure the signals are sensed by the CS. Once that is in place, the manual describes how to set up the shuttle train pretty easily. If your problem is really wiring the track, then that is another issue.

Good luck.--MM

Hi Ria,

Like Michael I have packed my layout away, so I can't add much, but did you see this topic: https://www.marklin-user...ult.aspx?g=posts&t=9107.

One thing I remembered doing wrong was that, quoting Michaels 3rd line:
"3. Then you start a train in the region and stop the CS, and switch it into the shuttle mode" - I stopped the loco a few times before I realized that it was the CS that had to be stopped - hitting the STOP button.

It is also important that you stop the CS after the loco has reached the 22994 or 24995 in the other end.

One other thing from your line of tracks. You only need one 24995 at each end (or 24994 if you prefer). You have listed 3 items on your line. On my test setup I had a 24994 in one end and a 22995 in the other end to get the feel of it, and it works.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your replies and help. Finally I got it with a combination of 2 24994 (one at each end) and works perfect!!! Smile

Ria: One other comment: if you are using C-track, it is trivial to modify any single (non-turnout) to be an occupancy detector. The idea is to use the red insulators to insulate the rails from the tracks on either side. Then, with a Dremmel tool, you isolate both rails from one another. Then you put a wire on on one of the rails to your s88. When an AC wheelset passes the track, it closes the circuit you have opened, and the s88 detects the change. I actually used my CS to make sure I could do this to a track, and then, for fun, thought that the shuttle train would be a good application.--MM

Yes it did. It was the first time that I used s88 module. Now I will try your proposal for making occupancy detectors and I will inform you about my progress. Again thank you

Michael,

the primary thread itself is dead, at least at this time stamp.
