I am a Marklin beginner, with no experience, although I have been around HO's for a good many years.I would like to build a Marklin layout, and know that C track has five different radii, according to what I have read. However, I have not found anywhere what those radii actually are. What is the largest, the smallest? I can't plan a layout unless I have this info. Any help for this greenhorn would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.tomh. |

The Marklin catalogue has a good explanation of the various radii available for C track so I believe that if you plan to start a layout you should get that as a first step. However: The standard C track curve (R1) has the customary radius for HO of 360mm and an external diameter of 76cm. R2 has a radius of 437.5 mm and a diameter of 91.5 cm. That's a two track oval with 1m width. R3 has a 515mm radius and an external diamter of 107cm. R4 has a 579.3mm radius and R5 has a 643.6 mm radius. |

Hi tomh,
Thanos has given you an excellent explaination of C track. I am in the process of laying out a new layout and am using the R4 and R5 radius for the first time. If you have the room, they really make beautiful curves. C track is really great. It has good geometry as long as you follow it. Good luck and welcome aboard.
