Hi,

I finally added a current conducting coupler to a 37030 BR 38. The tender coupling mechanism looks like it was made for current conducting couplers. The parts look like the couplers on a coach that takes a lighting kit. Are there parts to take advantage of this undocumented feature? Which other locs are this easy to convert (no drilling necessary)?

Here is a picture with current conductor coupler wired up. I made the piece the wire is soldered to. It goes all the way down to contact the coupler.

here is a picture of the coupler mechanism from the tender and the brass part from the 7318 lighting kit and a current conducting coupler. The angle of the brass Y shaped piece does not match the angle of the tender piece. Does Marklin make one to fit?

Another undocumented feature I found was the current conducting bar in the 7318 kit has a little clip on the bottom that can hold a small wire. Was Marklin thinking about two pole conducting?

I now have Marklin led lights in the donnerbuchsen powered by the 37030.

Thank you for pictures !
I remember , one day , a friend of mine ask for same question at a German dealer. It was about coaches .
The answer was :
about plastic Y shaped piece for coaches there are about a dozen references depending the width of the "Y" , the angle and the lenght too .Depending of the coaches too . But all those for modern long coaches , you can adapt the brass Y shaped piece on it . You need a plastic Y shaped piece with a hole in it .

For me the problem was how to mount those plastic Y shaped pieces on "Gluckauf " coaches . The original plastic pieces on "Gluckauf" coaches have no hole in it , so I cannot install the brass Y shaped piece in it .
I need to buy the plastic Y shaped piece coming from the Rheingold coaches and it is so hard to find a reference .
( Gluckauf coaches ref 42281 are former Rheingold coaches , without interior lights )
I have same problem to install current conducting couplers on coaches from the set 42751 . On those coaches the plastic Y shaped piece has no hole in it . I would like to find which plastic Y piece with hole I could install on these coaches .Similar shape with hole .

About brass Y shaped piece : there is only one reference .( the one coming from the kit ) . But I believe - I'm not sure - it is suitable for most of plastic Y pieces for long coaches . Even if there is no metal plate to make contact , you can easily sold a wire . The goal is to have a nice conducting NEM pocket in which we put any conducting couplers ( one pole )
It is possible to cut "the legs" of the brass Y piece too wink wink

Hi,
Its too bad the references aren't readily available. its a nice feature and Marklin could sell us more parts to add current conduction couplers to our locs and coaches. But it was still nice to find the plastic Y with the hole in it already in the tender. That made the job much so much easier and neater. The initial plan was to drill a hole in the bottom of the tender and run a wire under the tender to a solder joint on the coupler. I'm glad I didn't have to do that. Now I can plug in any coupler I want to.

True , the fact of the plastic part with a hole made you a lucky man .

About coaches : you can't even drill a hole because they are different shape , different design .
I hope , with patience , I manage to find some references , I need time .
I know these references do exist

FIrst : the one from Rheingold coaches .
