Have a look at this

A strange hybrid but looks very well done. How on earth would you value it?

It's beautiful!

How do you value it? You ask for a price, and if someone is willing to pay it, that's its value!wink

Since it is repainted the purists will pay nothing at all [xx(] (top original condition is ~ €2,500)

On the other hand he did an excellent [:p] resto job: around €300 - 500, perhaps ...

I like it. It is like the people who buy an old car and restore it to original conditon and those who buy and old car and make it a "hot rod". This is a custom triebwagen. I like the extra middle car and the how the lights can change color with direction. Yes it is overpriced. I suspect, someone will buy it and sell the middle car and the rest of the m.u. as two items and make money on the deal. Good middle cars, can go for 400 euro or more. I have seen some really bad custom painted st 800's, dt 800's, dl 800's and 3025's pn ebay. There was a really ugly maroon & gold st 800 for sale on Ebay awhile back.

Thom,

Yes its certainly an item I would like but its way out of my price range. [:(]
There seems to be a growing market for custom repaints, such as the prewar lner carriages etc.

Based on the buyer's history, he is a Marklin collector. He must see value in it. No matter what kind of paint job it is has...its still a Marklin!

I have always wanted a really high valued Marklin such as this one!
