Hello all,
I am assembling a small C Track layout for Christmas so that I can show off some of my new goodies to visitors. I am using SCARM for the design and find there is a gap in the track in one area. It may be a shortcoming with SCARM or it actually may be so when I lay the track.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

Thanks in advance,

Peter B. in sunny Florida.

Assemble it and see if it joins up. Use the length of c track that works.

Try this approach for your crossovers:

A variant of the track plan.

As you can see from the added crossover at the top (only there to make the point) this lines up properly with C-Track geometry and has simple 229's on all sides.

To resolve your issue, the curve with the curved switch should be aligned as follows (rotate second photo 90 degrees to the right to correspond):

Once done this way, the tracks on the opposing side should properly line up with the outer track using R2 and the inner one using R1 tracks

By correctly using the 24230 and 24130 as indicated, the tracks should maintain the separation required for R1 and R2 and the spacing at the top and bottom should be identical.

Regards

I haven't opened up my PC and Scarm but another way could be experimenting and fiddling with what smaller C track straight pieces, which there are several of, could fill the gap.. maybe even omitting the top 229 in favour of another piece. Even if the end result will show a small gap or be too big there will be enough flexibility to make it fit.

I tried a number of different straights and found ones that would fit, but to complete the layout i.a.w. the diagram I'll need to buy a few more pieces. So eBay here I come again.
