FD has a good collection of MAXI locos and rolling stock and is about to expand this with a new loco and two passenger wagons.

The plan is to do a modest Garden Railway, but we are concerned about the durability of the old Marklin 1 Track and the new Marklin 1 track. Does anyone here have a garden layout that is in the sun? Ideally, we would love to hear from someone in Australia (WA or Queensland or western NSW) or perhaps from another country with a humid sub-tropical to tropical climate.

One concern is the UV sensitivity of the plastic components and the other is the corrosion on the rails.

I understand that Peco G1 track is supposed to be UV resistant, but the other trick would be to use lots of ballast so it covers the sleepers.

Seems I recall my dad using LGB track in the late 90s for his pond railroad. He bought it where he bought the train. My nephew still uses it indoors.

No personal experience here, but you could consider buying and using the rugged LGB track for the outside (if you can tolerate the look), and keep the finer (less coarse) Märklin 1-scale track for carpet-bahning and for other occations.
