Got 30111 E44. Notice it uses white plastic gears.
This 30111 was a repeat of 30110 Primex 50th anniversary, with retro Märklin box.
Does Märklin / Primex use plastic gears in the past? Does the plastic gears construction conform to the E44 made in the sixties or seventies?
All my Märklin locomotives use metal gears, even the 3000, and this is first time I see plastic gears used in a Märklin locomotive.

I have several Märklin locos from the last century with plastic gears, including Primex locos. Not unusual. |

Hello, I have had a look at my older 3000 series locomotives from the sixties and they tend to have one white nylon white gear in the train of gears. The remainder of the gears are metal. I think it is for the reason Jean stated - i.e. to reduce noise.

Marklin HO using M track. Now reverted to analogue as I find it has more character and is more fun...... and I understand it! |
